Request Scans and Reproductions
Bywaters can provide photocopies and scans of material for research purposes for a fee. Some items may not be available, due to their age or condition.
Copyright
In some instances, Bywaters Special Collections owns only the physical item, not the associated copyright. It is your responsibility to determine copyright status of the materials and obtain permission to publish from the copyright owners.
Citations
Citation formats will depend on the style manual used and your specific project, but should include enough information so that readers can locate your sources. For scholarly works, we suggest manuscript and image collection citations include item, box numbers, and folder titles as well, but at a minimum credit should be as follows:
[Name of collection] Bywaters Special Collections, Hamon Arts Library, Southern Methodist University.
For exhibitions, presentations, web pages, broadcasts, newspaper or journal articles, etc. in which permission to use images has been granted by Bywaters Special Collections, credit as follows:
