About the SMU Psychology Clinic

PURPOSE AND MISSION

The SMU Psychology Clinic is a non-profit training clinic housed within SMU’s Department of Psychology. The mission of the Clinic is threefold: 1) to provide training in the competent and ethical practice of clinical psychology; 2) to offer high-quality, affordable psychological services to the Dallas-Fort Worth area as service to the community; and 3) to support clinical research and dissemination of evidence-based practice.

SERVICE PROVIDERS

Our clinicians are doctoral students in the APA-accredited Clinical Psychology program at SMU, who are supervised by licensed clinical psychologists and/or SMU faculty members. For educational and training purposes, all psychological services are video-recorded. Video-recordings are kept in secure physical and electronic locations along with all other clinic records and are only viewed by relevant clinicians and supervisors.

COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY

The SMU Psychology Clinic is committed to providing professional, confidential services to individuals from diverse backgrounds. Our clinicians and supervising psychologists adhere to the highest standards of multicultural competence and treat all clients as valued and respected individuals with unique experiences. We strive to maintain a professional environment that honors and accepts all types of cultural and individual differences and to provide services that are consistent with our clients’ personal preferences.
