Dallas (SMU) Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018 – Revolution Retail Systems, a Carrollton-based cash automation and recycling tech provider, is the fastest-growing entrepreneurial company in the Dallas area, according to the SMU Cox School of Business’s Caruth Institute for Entrepreneurship. The Institute’s annual Dallas 100™, a celebration of the fastest-growing, privately-held businesses in the Dallas area, revealed the area’s top entrepreneurial companies in rank order from 100 to one before a crowd of about 1,000 people at the Omni Hotel Thursday in downtown Dallas.

“Revolution has increased sales almost tenfold over the last three years, evidence of the rapid growth that made it the No. 1 company this year,” said Simon Mak, associate director of the Caruth Institute. “Often, the privately held corporations, proprietorships and partnerships we honor through Dallas 100™ don’t get a lot of recognition and yet, like Revolution, they contribute greatly to our economy.”

President and CEO Mark Levenick leads the retail and cash management company, which was founded in 2009 to automate the manual cash handling processes typically found in retail. The company focuses on cash recycling solutions for the broad retail marketplace. Revolution’s employee base has grown from 18 employees in 2010 to 245 today.

The Caruth Institute, working with the accounting firm BKD LLP CPAs and Advisors examined sales from hundreds of companies for 2015 to 2017, the last year for which complete data is available. The winners represent a wide swath of Dallas-area businesses. The winning companies collectively generated $3.3 billion in sales in 2017, according to Jerry White, the Linda A. and Kenneth R. Morris Endowed Director of the Caruth Institute for Entrepreneurship at SMU Cox. Collectively, the companies grew at an average annual growth rate of 87 percent from 2015 to 2017. Together, they created 11,096 jobs in that same period.

“These companies are amazing growth machines. They can create a fantastic number of jobs and pump hundreds of millions of dollars into our economy,” said White. “For 28 years, the Caruth Institute at SMU Cox has honored the critical role of entrepreneurship in the DFW economy, which has thrived specifically because of its long history of entrepreneurial spirit.”

This year’s Dallas 100™ sponsors, in alphabetical order, are: Allegiant Wealth Management; Avison Young; BKD LLP CPAs and Advisors; CARR Intellectual Property Law; Dallas Business Journal; Executive Press; KRLD 1080 News Radio; Mass Mutual; Talent Suite; and Texas Capital Bank.
