Dedman College: GRE Requirement for 2025 Applications
The GRE is optional for all graduate programs in Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences. Students are welcome to submit scores, but they will not be required to complete an application or to be considered for funding. SMU's testing code is 6660.
The only exception is for students applying to the Applied Economics and Predictive Analytics - MS and Applied Statistics and Data Analytics - MS programs, who must provide GRE scores if their GPA is below a 3.0.
Please note, if you are an international applicant who needs to demonstrate English language proficiency, English language proficiency test scores are still required by all programs. Additionally, if you are an applicant to a program outside of Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences, please check your program of interest's website for their test requirements, as these vary by program.
Please allow 24-48 hours after submitting your application for test scores to be updated on your file. Applying the waiver is a manual process, so during high volume periods closer to deadlines, this may take a little longer to update. We appreciate your patience and understanding. Please note, applications are not updated when the university is closed for weekends, holidays, or breaks.
