The Margareta Deschner Teaching Award

What it is: a cash award presented every other year to an outstanding professor on the SMU faculty whose teaching, in courses other than Women’s Studies, integrates knowledge concerning women into his or her field of study.

Who is eligible: All SMU faculty members, male and female, are eligible except those who have received the award within the last three years.* Women’s studies faculty may be nominated, but not for Women’s Studies courses.

Who decides: The final decision is made by a committee of the Women’s Studies Council, consisting of students, staff, and faculty. This decision is based on student nominations.

*Currently all SMU faculty members are eligible.
