The Women's Center is proud to announce it's Fall 2007 Women Who Rock award recipient! Congratulations Megan Knapp!                                         
Megan works in the Memorial Health Center and has been very involved with Women's Center through Love Your Body Day and Allies. Her voice, her strength and her presence has made a real impact on the SMU community.

Programs of the Women's Center

Allies  

Allies are a group of SMU faculty and staff who act as advocates and activists for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning students. The Allies placard displays their visible support for lgbt students at SMU. Each Ally attends an initial training session and is invited to monthly continuing education programs.  The Food Chain  

Calling all SMU women of color! This discussion group  provides support, education, and mentoring opportunities for female, minority faculty, staff, and students. These women build deeper connections with one another as they share food from various cultures. Contact Karen Click at 8-4796 or Jennifer Jones at 8-4425 for details.

 

Violence Prevention Program

At the start of school each year the Women's Center unites with other community and campus partners to bring creative programming on the topics of relationships, violence and sexual assault prevention.


Women's Center Brown Bag Series 

The Women's Center offers the opportunity for Students, Staff & Faculty to hear and discuss topics of interest over lunch. It is a great way to meet new people, network and learn while listening and discussing important topics such as Body Image, Student Mothers and Relationship Violence. Just provide your own lunch and we'll provide the place and conversation!  


Women's Symposium 

A Tradition of Excellence Since 1966! This forum brings together a multicultural audience to examine topics of national interest. The program features nationally recognized speakers as well as topical seminars and workshops conducted by students, community leaders, and SMU faculty and staff.
