Build your portfolio while working for a worthy organization. The new public relations internship from Women's Studies offers students a chance to put their skills to work in a real world setting. The internship counts as three upper level hours in Women's Studies.

Requirements:

Strong interest in gender issues
Excellent communication skills
Strong writing skills
Self-starter, able to work with little supervision
GPA of 3.0 or higher
Must be an undergraduate junior or senior
Preferred: MS FrontPage skills

 Responsibilities:

  • In charge of coordinating communications between the program and its professors, council members, listserv, and minors
  • In charge of the creation of promotion materials for any Women’s Studies sponsored events
  • Responsible for distribution of the promotion materials
  • Responsible for taking minutes at the Women’s Studies Council meetings (one Monday a month at 3 p.m.) and transcribing them in the Women’s Studies Update, an email that goes out to all Council members
  • Responsible for the creation of new ideas that can bring publicity to the program
  • Responsible for writing at least one article per semester for the Daily Campus
  • Responsible for writing one article for the Women’s Studies Network, the program’s newsletter
  • Maintain the information that is distributed to the WS listserv and to the professors of Women’s studies
  • 10-15 hrs/wk, flexible schedule
