The Honors Program Office is located in the General Education Office, on the bottom floor of Clements Hall (room G02) on Dyer Street, close to the heart of the University.
Office hours are Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 2pm-5pm.

David D. Doyle, Jr.
Director
Dr. Doyle was raised in northern New Hampshire and graduated from Plymouth State College in New Hampshire with a degree in History. A Master’s Degree in American History followed from New York University. Working with historians Martin Duberman, David Nasaw, and Randolph Trumbach, Dr. Doyle completed the Ph.D. in American History from the City University of New York. His fields of interest within American History are the study of gender and sexuality and he is currently at work on a book examining male sexuality in late nineteenth century New York and New England. He has published reviews and articles in Reviews in American History, and The Journal of the History of Sexuality, and the American Historical Association Lesbian & Gay History Newsletter.
Dr. Doyle teaches both sections of the U.S. History survey and an interdisciplinary Cultural Formations course, “Sex in America: An Introduction", which has readings in American history, anthropology, literary criticism, biology, and psychology. Dr. Doyle is the recipient of two of the highest awards at SMU: the Rotunda Outstanding Faculty award ('05-'06) and the "M" Award ('06-'07).

Sally Spaniolo
Associate Director
Sally Spaniolo, Associate Director of the University Honors Program and Associate Director of the Dedman Scholars Program grew up in Alexandria, Virginia. She claims her interest in the study of history and political science developed from living in an area steeped in history and politics. Pursuing these interests, she completed a B.A. in History with a minor in Political Science and a M.A. in History from Michigan State University. As an undergraduate she was a member of the MSU Honors College and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Before coming to SMU and joining the Dedman College Advising Center and the University Honors Program as the Honors Academic Advisor, Ms. Spaniolo served for seven years as an Academic Advisor in the Michigan State University Honors College. She has also held positions in university advancement at the University of Texas at Arlington and in university personnel at the University of Michigan.
Appointed in 2010 as Associate Director of the University Honors Program and the Dedman College Scholars Program, Ms. Spaniolo serves to cultivate programs and events that will foster a community of scholars within Dedman College and the university.
In addition to being a passionate collegiate sports fan, she loves to travel, read and cook for family and friends.

Rachel Stonecipher
Honors Coordinator
Rachel Stonecipher is a junior Cinema-Television and Anthropology major and Human Rights minor. She comes to SMU from Grapevine, TX.
As Honors Coordinator, Rachel helps with special event planning, the common reading discussion, the mentoring program, and course evaluations, and serves on the Student Advisory Council.
Rachel is vice president of the Anthropology Club, chair of SMU Amnesty International's Border Committee, and Community Engagement Editor for the UHP newspaper, Hilltopics. Last summer, using Richter funds, she conducted independent ethnographic research on the social structure of immigrant rights activism on the Arizona-Mexico border. Her research interests include visual ethnography and urban and medical anthropology. She plans to attend graduate school after her time at SMU.
