Resources for
the Study of Evangelism
Perkins School
of Theology recognizes the importance of training church leaders
to have a thorough understanding of the theology and practice of
evangelism. For this reason, Perkins offers several means of
furthering the study of evangelism.
Continuing
Education
The Center
for Evangelism often works with the Continuing Education
Office at Perkins to provide CEUs for pastors. Many of the
events that the Center organizes include the possibility of
receiving CEUs, and many of the CEU events at Perkins
include Center-sponsored courses. For more information,
please see the Perkins
Continuing Education site.
D. Min.
A Doctor of
Ministry Track in Evangelism is offered for pastors who have
received their M. Div. and want a more intensive study of
how the theology of evangelism interacts with the life of
the local church. For more information, please see the
Perkins Doctor of Ministry
site.
Ph. D.
There is a
great need for qualified persons to teach evangelism in
mainline seminaries in the United States.
Persons
seeking to prepare themselves as scholars and teachers in
the field of evangelism may do so by obtaining a Ph.D. in
Religious Studies, offered by the
Graduate Program in Religious
Studies at SMU. Working within the classical
disciplines of the History of Christianity or Systematic
Theology, candidates may shape the program of study so as to
gain expertise in the history of evangelism or the theology
of evangelism.
