For many years NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw was the nation's most watched evening television newscast. Brokaw stepped down in December 2004, after 21 years as anchor and managing editor of Nightly News. Throughout his NBC career, which began in 1966, he covered major news events worldwide and every presidential election since 1968. Brokaw became a bestselling author with his 1998 book, The Greatest Generation, which was followed by three more books. His numerous honors include Emmy, Peabody, and duPont-Columbia Awards. Since leaving Nightly News, he has focused on reporting and producing NBC documentaries on varied subjects. Brokaw earned his B.A. degree in political science from the University of South Dakota.
