Anderson Cooper brings an innovative approach to news coverage on CNN/U.S. He joined CNN in 2001 and since 2003 has hosted his own weeknight news program, Anderson Cooper 360°. He has anchored the network's coverage of major breaking news stories around the world, ranging from the tsunami in Southeast Asia to Iraqi elections and Hurricane Katrina. In addition to his CNN reporting, Cooper is a regular contributor to CBS News' 60 Minutes. Before joining CNN, he was an ABC News correspondent and host of the network's reality program, The Mole. He also anchored ABC's live news and interview program, World News Now. Cooper's numerous broadcasting honors include a National Headliners Award, Emmy Award, Bronze Telly, and Silver Plaque from the Chicago International Film Festival.
Cooper's new best-selling book, Dispatches from the Edge: A Memoir of War, Disasters, and Survival, was published in May 2006. In it he presents a personal view of crises he has covered around the world and their impact on his life. Cooper received a B.A. degree in political science from Yale University and also studied Vietnamese at the University of Hanoi. He is based in New York City.
