Rosabeth Moss Kanter

kanterThe Ernest L. Arbuckle Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School, Rosabeth Moss Kanter is an internationally known business leader, educator and award-winning author. She advises major corporations and governments worldwide, specializing in strategy, innovation and leadership for change. In recognition of her business acumen, she has been named one of the 100 most important women in the United States by the Ladies Home Journal and one of the 50 most powerful women in the world by The Times of London.

Kanter's current research is on the development of new leadership for the digital age, concentrating on strategies that businesses can utilize to incorporate technological innovation, work across boundaries and borders and take on new social responsibilities. In 1997, she conceived and led the "Business Leadership in the Social Sector" project, which brought together over 100 national leaders, including U.S. senators, governors, CEOs and the First Lady, to analyze public/private partnerships in today's rapidly changing business climate. It resulted in a video series and a national call to action issued through business associations. She is currently developing Web-based versions of her leadership tools.

The former editor of the Harvard Business Review, Kanter is the author or co-author of over 300 articles and 13 books. Among her bestsellers are Men and Women of the Corporation, When Giants Learn to Dance, World Class: Thriving Locally in the Global Economy and Rosabeth Moss Kanter on the Frontiers of Management. Her latest book is Evolve!: Succeeding in the Digital Culture of Tomorrow.

For her impact on management thought, Kanter received the Academy of Management's Distinguished Career Award, its highest honor for scholarly contributions, in 2001. She has also received 19 honorary doctoral degrees and over a dozen leadership awards.
