CLASSROOM WITH WALLS --
NOW IN THE FALL!
Offering a full fall term will allow more students to experience the unique SMU-in-Taos environment, providing a richer experience to our participants, both students and faculty.
As a participant in the SMU-IN-TAOS program your experiences will be your classroom. Instead of reading about the Pueblo Revolt of 1680, you'll visit the site of the famous siege of Santa Fe. Rather than looking at pictures in a classroom, you will be taking the pictures. Archaeology comes alive as you excavate materials buried for millennia. You will be part of history on this historic campus.
The fall term will be comprised of four distinct "blocks", each lasting approximately three weeks. Students will take one course per block, allowing in-depth focus on course content. In addition, students may take a Choices II: Wellness Activity class in one of the blocks. Also offered is an optional Cultural Formations course that will span the full term. Students may take up to 16-credit hours, but will be required to take no less than 12 for the term. Courses will be taught on the Honors Format with 12-15 students per class.
The SMU-IN-TAOS program will offer courses in such disciplines as anthropology, geology, biology, statistics, accounting, photography, painting, literature, and history. The wellness program offers a variety of activities, including hiking, biking, river rafting, rock climbing, horseback riding, fly fishing and perhaps adventures at the Taos Ski Valley!
