The Clements Center-DeGolyer Library Research Travel
Grants
The
Ruth P. Morgan Fellowships,
through our offices, is awarded by the
DeGolyer Library to encourage and
support the use of the resources of the
Archives of Women of the Southwest.
Dr. Ruth P. Morgan, provost emerita
at SMU, has created an endowment which
will provide support for advanced
scholars who are working on projects
related to women in the Southwest and to
women in politics. If the grant request
is for research on women in the
Southwest or in politics, applicants
should specify the “Ruth P. Morgan
Fellowship” on their application. The
$700 a week Morgan Fellowship has a
rolling deadline and is awarded for
periods of one to four weeks to help
defray costs of travel, lodging, and
research materials.

It
is highly recommended that
applicants who have
questions about the
appropriateness of the
DeGolyer collections to
their research project
should consult in advance
Russell
Martin, director of the
DeGolyer Library: rlmartin@smu.edu
or call (214)
768-3234.
Applicants should provide a
project outline and explain
how work in the DeGolyer
Library's collections will
enhance their research.
Please specify the length of
research time needed at the
library. Applicants should
also include a curriculum
vitae and two letters of
reference from persons who
can assess the significance
of their project and their
scholarship record.
