The Clements Center-DeGolyer Library Research Travel Grants

The James Butler Bonham Chapter of the Daughters of the Texas Republic (DTR), through our offices, offers one annual research grant of $700 for a scholar whose work at the DeGolyer Library will advance our understanding of the history of Texas. If the grant request is for research in Texas History, applicants should specify the “James Butler Bonham Chapter of the Daughters of the Texas Republic Award” on their application, their research topic and the number of weeks they are requesting.  We may offer the Bonham Award, as a single grant, or combine it with the other grant funds if there seems to be a good match with the scholar's work. The Bonham Award has a rolling deadline and is only offered once in an academic year.
It is highly recommended that applicants who have questions about the appropriateness of the DeGolyer collections to their research project should consult in advance Russell Martin, director of the DeGolyer Libraryrlmartin@smu.edu or call (214) 768-3234.

Applicants should provide a project outline and explain how work in the DeGolyer Library's collections will enhance their research.  Please specify the length of research time needed at the library. Applicants should also include a curriculum vitae and two letters of reference from persons who can assess the significance of their project and their scholarship record.
