Win Prizes — Be Famous

SMU students can enter the Green Minute Video Contest to promote campus sustainability. Submit videos to sustainability@smu.edu by noon Friday, Oct. 16, 2009.

The Green-Minute Video Contest

The best ideas usually start at home, and SMU’s Campus Sustainability Committee invites SMU students to come up with the best, one-minute video promoting sustainability on the Hilltop.

Entries for the SMU “Green Minute” video contest are due by noon Friday, Oct.16, and winners will be announced on Oct. 21 – Campus Sustainability Day.

"The Campus Sustainability Committee is less than a year old, and we were looking for a way to let students know that we want their involvement," said Michael Paul, committee chair and executive director of SMU Facilities Management and Sustainability. "The contest is a good way to reinforce how easy and important it is to keep the campus green. We think the students are probably going to get a lot more creative with this than we ever could, and we'll use the video to spread our message."

The Rules:

  • Only SMU students may enter.
  • Give it a “G” rating.
  • Keep it at one minute or less in length.
  • Entrants may shoot video with anything they like – even their phones.

Submit entries by noon Friday, Oct. 16, to sustainability@smu.edu in either .mov or .wmv formats. If you encounter problems e-mailing your entry, please contact us and make arrangements for delivery on a disk.

The Prizes

The first place video will be featured on the SMU homepage and may be used to promote campus sustainability in other venues. First, second and third place winners will receive prizes donated by Green Living Earth Friendly Goods For the Home, Fleetwood’s Kit Kat Cruiser Bike Boutique, Whole Earth Provision Company and Green Spot Market and Fuels.
