SMU students compete for the Green

RecycleMania is back, challenging the SMU community to take some easy steps toward waste reduction and a greener campus in a friendly recycling competition against other colleges and universities from Feb. 5 to March 31. Read more.

Americans continue to argue about what are acceptable levels of environmental protection and the debate is expanding from the basic issues of clean air and water to more complicated questions surrounding climate change, biodiversity, deforestation and renewable energy.

Still, changes reflected around the country and here at SMU over the past 40+ years — since the first Earth Day — have been remarkable. Here’s a snapshot. 

Mark you calendar for April 22, 2012. Earth Day 2012 is the 42nd anniversary of the event and observances will focus on building the environmental movement and engaging new environmental activists around the globe.
