Summer 2009 Calendar
Summer I: June 3 - July 2
Summer II: July 6 - August 4
Full Session: June 3 - August 4

Summer at SMU is a change of pace. Because of smaller class sizes and close interaction with faculty, summer provides many academic opportunities in a more relaxed setting.

Whether you are an SMU student, a visiting student from another college, a high school graduate accepted for fall matriculation at an accredited college or university, or someone looking for a fun, non-credit learning experience, you are eligible to study at SMU this summer.

Why Spend YOUR SUMMER in an SMU Summer Session?

  • Graduate earlier or stay on track with your 4-year plan.
  • Add credentials to your resume such as a second degree, major or minor.
  • Save money! Take this year’s courses at Summer ‘08 prices. Did you know summer credit hours are less expensive than fall and spring?
  • Acquire a Business Minor available only to non-business students in summer!
  • Investigate financial aid and payment options by contacting your financial aid advisor.
  • Discover the wonders of the Southwest at SMU-in-Taos, held at Fort Burgwin in Taos, New Mexico.
  • Open a window to 9 countries in the world on an SMU Summer Study Abroad Program.
  • Enjoy a variety of recreational activities at Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports including rock climbing, kayaking, beach volleyball or sunning by the pool.
  • Learn and earn by combining classes with a summer job or work with a professor as an Undergraduate Research Assistant.
  • Expand your horizons through SMU’s Informal Courses, non-credit, short courses in the arts, creative writing, history, food, personal finance and travel.
  • Study a foreign language through SMU’s non-credit Informal Language Courses.
  • Stay conveniently close to classes and the SMU community in Mary Hay - Peyton Hall.
  • Take advantage of Dallas in the summer at museums, concerts and theater productions or catch a fly ball at a Texas Rangers or Rough Riders baseball game.
