Cox Senators

		Arvind Venkataraman avenkatarama@smu.edu Classification: First-year Hometown: Southlake, Texas Major: Finance Personal Statement: Through Senate I hope to streamline communication between the Cox school and its students to make sure that students are completely able to utilize the services available in Cox. Additionally I hope to increase representation of pre-business students in Cox by factoring their opinions into the overall student body of Cox.

		Tyler Harris tharris@smu.edu Classification: Junior Hometown: Newport, Arkansas Majors: Financial Consulting and Political Science Personal Statement: One of my main goals for senate this year is to pass legislation promoting the development of more outdoor study areas for students to utilize. Being in Texas, we have several months of weather that would be great for studying outside. Unfortunately there are not nearly enough study areas to take advantage. I would like to see more tables placed in open areas for students to enjoy.

		Carole Ann Finley cafinley@smu.edu Classification: Junior Hometown: Springfield, Missouri Major(s): Accounting Personal Statement: I plan on accomplishing the task of representing the students of the Cox School of Business and making sure they feel they are being heard and getting what they want from Student Senate to the best of my ability. Additionally, I plan on creating dialogue between the various disciplines at SMU to learn about other institutions and bring some of Cox to the rest of SMU. I want to help our school, and I want everyone in the entire school to feel involved and have their voice be heard for the changes they want to see.

		Martha Pool mpool@smu.edu Classification: Junior Hometown: Aledo, Texas Major(s): Accounting Personal Statement: My goal for the upcoming year is to continue to be a representative of the student body, to work to implement the initiatives begun last year, and to make a positive difference on campus by improving Student Senate.

		Michael Mitchell mmitchell@smu.edu Classification: Senior Hometown: Austin, Texas Major(s): Finance & Psychology Personal Statement: This year, I'm looking forward to representing the concerns of my Cox constituents as best I can through improved accountability and relevant legislation that also benefits the student body as a whole.

		Jaywin Malhi jsmalhi@smu.edu Classification: Sophomore Hometown: Garland, Texas Major(s): Business Management and Political Science Personal Statement: As a Cox Senator, I hope to make Student Senate accessible to every student in the Cox School of Business by being consistently available for questions and concerns, resulting in a more transparent student government. In addition to voicing my constituents’ opinions on general university legislation (such as parking, financial aid, and academics), I would like to introduce pieces of legislation specifically intended to foster the Cox School of Business' rising national rankings. Furthermore, I hope to provide particular attention to bridging the gap between MBA students and BBA students at SMU. Finally, I plan to finally address larger issues which have consistently been discussed, yet somewhat avoided, in Senate for several years, such as special representation seats.

		Cohagen Wilkison cjwilkinso@smu.edu Classification: Senior Hometown: Lincoln, Nebraska Major(s): Business Management and Computer Science Personal Statement: My goals for the school year include promoting legislation improving or creating channels of communication between the Senate and our constituents, increasing the effectiveness of legislation that is passed by senate, and supporting my fellow senators in their efforts to make progressive changes in an effort to improve student life on campus.

		Nikki Ruh nruh@smu.edu Classification: Sophomore Hometown: Buffalo, New York Major(s): Biology and Finance Personal Statement: Offer seminars to introduce freshman who are not BBA scholars to the business school majors and requirements. Improve school spirit by providing incentives for attendance at sporting events.
