Welcome to the Student Senate Opportunities site. If
you're interested in being a part of one of the oldest and most
influential student organizations on campus, this is the place for you.
Check back often as new opportunities are always being posted.
Eligibility Information
- Candidates must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA and be
enrolled full-time in a university degree-granting program or are
students enrolled in a co-op program or are students with minimum hours
to graduate.
- Candidates must be in good judicial standing with the University.
- Candidates
for school seats are only eligible to run for seats of the school in
which they are enrolled at the time of the election. Students who
are double majors or are represented by multiple senators can select
the constituency they wish to represent, but cannot run for more than
one senator seat.
- Candidates who have not yet declared a major classify as Dedman I.

Note to those applying for General Elections! This is a FULL YEAR commitment. You must be able to
attend Senate meetings from 3:30 p.m.- 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays for the
entire 2009-2010 academic year.
- Though you may only run for
one senator seat, you may apply for a Student Body Officer position,
Student Center Governing Board and/or Student Media Company Board of
Directors position in addition.

Note that Student Body Officer positions carry additional meeting and time requirements. | Requirements for Candidacy: |
- Currently enrolled as a full-time student (12+ hours), a
co-op program, or have the minimum number of hours to graduate
- Minimum SMU GPA of 2.5
- Currently declared in the school of the applicant's desired
position

Membership Chair Applications due by Feb 14th. Other Chair applications due by Feb. 28th. Senator position vacancies filled on a rolling basis. |
