To provide programs and services that support new students and families in transition to Southern Methodist University as well as provide leadership training and development for current students.

2010-11 DEPARTMENTAL HIGHLIGHTS
The Interim Director was promoted in January 2011. A Mustang Corral Advisory Committee met throughout the year to evaluate the goals and effectiveness of Mustang Corral and have presented a final report and recommendations.

DEPARTMENTAL GOALS
Student Success
- Create a process for the implementation of recommendations from the Mustang Corral Advisory Committee.
- Collaborate with Transfer and Transition Services to revise our messaging at Transfer AARO and the transfer components of Mustang Corral to more effectively serve the unique needs of this population.
Student Learning
- Work to include the AARO Leaders in the Orientation Leadership Institute and evaluate the syllabus to make it inclusive of the entire orientation team.
- Work with the new GEC implementation committee to help students understand its purpose and benefits at AARO.
Exemplary Division of Student Affairs
- Provide faculty and staff opportunities to engage with students outside the classroom, through Mentor and Sneak Preview roles at Mustang Corral, Faculty Presentations at AARO.
