Southern Methodist University’s Center for Statistical Consulting and
Research enjoys a
successful
history of providing quality consulting services
on a fee-paying basis to the academic community, as well as private
sector and government agencies. It is an integral part of the Department
of Statistical Science at SMU. Statistical
consulting services include statistical data analysis and modeling, interpretation
of the results, and presentation of conclusions using state-of-the-art
statistical methods. A wide variety of statistical computing and
graphics
software are used to ensure the most effective analyses and
presentation
of the results. Analyses may be conducted on either a UNIX or Windows platform,
with the ability to accommodate large datasets. The SMU statistics
department has a state-of-the-art computer lab with several SUN
workstations, an SGI graphics workstation and numerous PCs.
Additionally, faculty and staff have their own PCs and workstations.
These are connected to the university's mainframes; other campus
computers; and state, regional, and international networks, providing
access to national super-computer centers and specialized databases.
