Caroline M. Jones Scholarship

 

Eligibility

  • Full time undergraduate students that have maintained a GPA of 3.2 or higher on all college level academic work.

  • No honor violations, disciplinary actions, or make-leave decisions pending.

  • Plan to be enrolled full-time in undergraduate studies during the 2013- 2014 academic school year

  • Demonstrated financial need - To verify, please contact your financial aid counselor

Application Requirements

  • Caroline M. Jones Scholarship Application - available September 1, 2012

  • 500 – 750 word double spaced essay (in 12 pt Times New Roman, Arial or Calibri, font) answering the following question: Why is service to your SMU community as relevant and important to overall growth as your academic record?

  • SMU Community Service and Volunteer Resume (traditional resume format that lists only volunteer activities and includes contact information enabling SMU Staff Association to verify)

  • Degree Progress Report submitted by the student

 

Award Information

  • Winner will receive a $10,000.00 scholarship. Smaller awards may be granted for honorable mention.

  • Award must be used for tuition, fees, room and board. Unused balance will be returned to the Caroline M. Jones Scholarship fund.

  • Award will be funded at 50% of amount for Fall 2013 term and 50% of amount for Spring 2014 term.

Important Dates

  • Applications must be postmarked and sent no later than December 3, 2012

  • Winners will be notified February 7, 2013.

  • Applications will not be accepted in person.
