The SMU Mustangs
— three 11-foot bronze statues of wild horses — were
dedicated April 27, 2005, in front of Moody Coliseum.
SMU Mustangs, the only such sculpture on campus to depict the University's wild mustang mascot, were commissioned by real estate developer John W. Carpenter III in honor of his wife, Cele Slaughter Briscoe Carpenter ('78), on their 25th wedding anniversary.
How the statues were created by artist Miley Frost is the subject of an online slide show.
