Why
KPMG?
I applied
to become an intern with KPMG to gain extremely valuable
work experience in the industry. I am currently enrolled in
the Master’s program of accounting, so this internship gives
me a great feel about the future possibilities in my field.
Upon completion of the internship there is a great chance to
receive a full-time job offer. Also, it will help me get a
better grasp on the accounting subject and may help me in my
studies.
Application process
My
application process was easy and very complicated at the
same time. One of my best friends at SMU interned with KPMG
last summer and he told one of his supervisors about me. He
also arranged a lunch meeting for us, so I could get to know
his supervisor. A few weeks after that I had an office visit
and was offered the internship. Now comes the hard part.
Since I am an international student at SMU, I needed to get
INS permission to work. I am not going to go into too many
details but it was a very hard and stressful thing to
accomplish.
Training
So far I
have done only the training, which is extremely boring. We
have community service next week and then we leave to for
national intern training in Orlando. After that we should
start actual work. So then I should be able to tell you more
about my responsibilities and duties.
