
- Amy, SMU-in-Oaxaca (Winter Break 2007) Amy spent winter break 2007-08 in Oaxaca, Mexico, where she and other SMU students explored culture, art and anthropology - visiting villages, churches and museums; participating in festivals; and working alongside the indigenous people of Oaxaca.
- Ben, Costa Rica (Winter Break 2006). A senior majoring in mechanical engineering, he served as trip supervisor on Outdoor Adventures' Winter Break 2006 trip to Costa Rica.
- Harvey, Belize
(Summer 2006). Part of a research project looking into the impact of traditional Mayan healing.
- Jackie, Peace Corps in Panama. (Summer 2008 - Summer 2010) Jackie Wald has served as a lecturer in Spanish in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures. She and her husband, Michael, have volunteered to serve in the Peace Corps in Panama for 27 months. Their assignment is to aid in the development of the nascent eco-tourism industry in this nation of tropical forests and wildlife preserves.
- John, Costa Rica (Winter Break 2006). A Hunt Scholar and past photo editor of SMU's student newspaper, he photographed utdoor Adventures' Winter Break 2006 trip to Costa Rica..
- Kate in Mexico. (Winter Term 2008) Kate, a senior psychology major, is participating in SMU-in-Oaxaca during Winter Term. The group will spend two weeks in Oaxaca, Mexico, and then travel to the Sierra Madre mountains for a week. While in Oaxaca, the group will take classes on ceramics, weaving and painting with talented craftsmen. The students also will engage in a service learning project, will enjoy Mexican traditions related to the holiday season and will collect oral histories.
