Officers
All officers in SMMUG must be Southern Methodist University students. All officers and members of the organization retain the same voting powers and privileges. These offices reflect an administrative structure only and will not have implications of rank or hierarchy in the organization. There is no limit on the number of terms an officer may serve although he/she must be elected for each term. The officers of SMMUG is as follows:
President
The president is responsible for the organization’s activities in so far as they involve the Southern Methodist community. He/She will be charged with ensuring that all events and activities are legitimate and in accordance with Southern Methodist University policies. The president is responsible for maintaining contact with Southern Methodist University administrators and discussing with them ways in which they can participate in SMMUG events. The president will be in charge of making the necessary arrangements with the student activities office and related Southern Methodist University offices for the organization of events. Lastly, the president will preside at and present the agenda for club meetings. The term for the president is one year. The president assumes full responsibility for maintaining close contact with the Apple Community of Southern Methodist University.
Vice-President
The vice-president shall assist the president in the duties as described in the constitution. The vice-president shall also be responsible for maintaining communication among committee chairs. The term for the vice-president shall be one year.
Treasure
The treasurer is responsible for the financial obligations and accountability of the organization. He/She will be charged with the management of self-generated funds, as well as funds obtained from Southern Methodist University and other companies or institutions. The treasurer will be responsible for attending finance meetings and for organizing activities whereby the chapter can generate some of its own funding. No chapter funds shall be spent or promised without the permission of the treasurer. The term for the treasurer shall be one year.
Secretary
The secretary is responsible for keeping the records of meetings and attendance for the organization. He/She is also responsible for overseeing all communications of the organization. The secretary shall assist the vice-president in maintaining open channels of communication among officers and committee chairs. The term for the secretary shall be one year.
Organizational Consultant
The organization may retain an organizational consultant who is responsible for providing advice in the planning stages of the organization and its events. The organizational consultant is appointed by the president of the organization and does not have a maximum term length.
Advisor
The advisor is to be selected by the president whose term will last for two years in an effort to generate continuity. There is no limit to the number of terms the advisor may serve.
