Office of the
Executive Director for Student Development and Programs
The Office of the Executive Director for Student Development and Programs has the responsibilities of supervising and supporting the five program offices in Student Affairs Programs. This office is also responsible for the Social Event Registration Process and the weekly Friday Update e-mails, blog, and podcast of upcoming activities for the week.
Fraternity & Sorority Life
The Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life serves as the advising center for the Interfraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council and Panhellenic Council and serves as the hub for all chapters served by the four councils. This office is responsible for procedures involving all fraternity and sorority recruitment, training, and development activities.
Hughes-Trigg Student Center
The Hughes-Trigg Student Center is the hub of campus activity and the home to all program offices within the Office of Student Affairs Programs. The Student Center houses the university’s student information desk (The Mane Desk), the University Post Office, an Art Gallery, Print Shop, The Computer Corner, and a variety of areas available for students to socialize. Reservable rooms in the Hughes-Trigg Student Center are available for free for campus groups and activities. The Student Center is also the home of Student Media, the University Chaplain, and the Hegi Family Career Development Center.
Multicultural Student Affairs
Multicultural Student Affairs provides support & advisement for the SMU multicultural community.The Asian Council, Association of Black Students, and College Hispanic American Students organizations are advised by the Coordinators of Multicultural Student Services.
Student Activities
The mission of Student Activities is to advise students in their development through educational, cultural, and fun co-curricular experiences. Student Activities is the “headquarters” for all student organizations. The office provides a variety of services such as computer access, a sign room with markers and butcher paper, a copy machine for organizational use, lamination services, button makers, and a fax machine.
Women’s Center
The Women’s Center of SMU empowers women and men on campus through educational programming and leadership opportunities designed to increase awareness of gender equity issues. Through advocacy, information, and referral services, the Women’s Center provides a safe haven for students struggling with issues of injustice and oppression. The Women’s Center sponsor several notable SMU Programs, including Allies, The Food Chain, the Violence Prevention Program, the Women’s Center Brown Bag Series, and the Women’s Symposium.
