Fleet Safety Program

Transportation and Risk

Fleet Safety Policy 8.8 applies to all employees, prospective employees, and students, who operate, or will operate, vehicles owned, leased, or loaned to the University (University Vehicles), which are covered by University insurance. The Program established under this Policy sets procedures and guidelines for all operating units within the University and includes the following:

  • Maintaining all University Vehicles in a proper and safe operating condition;
  • Ensuring that all University Vehicles meet federal, state, and local regulations and operating requirements;
  • Designating and annually monitoring qualifications for personnel who operate University Vehicles; and
  • Providing training and educational programs designed to enhance safe and proper driving skills for those subject
    to this Policy.

Employees and Students planning to drive a University Vehicle must complete and submit a Motor Vehicle Record  (MVR) form to the Office of Risk Management in advance of their travel.  Failure to provide information in advance of travel may result in withholding University permission to drive University Vehicles.
