Dr. Jesse Lee Cuninggim received his bachelor of arts degree from the University of North Carolina and a master of arts degree from the University of Chicago. His accomplishments included serving as head of the department of religious education at Southern Methodist University and later as president of Scarritt Bible School in Kansas City. In recognition of his dedication to religious education, SMU was honored to confer upon Jessie Lee Cuninggim the degree of Doctor of Divinity, honoris causa.
