Nutritional Counseling

Southern Methodist University is excited to announce that nutrition counseling services are now available for FREE to students at the Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports. This service is also FREE for faculty and staff Dedman Center members with limited availability. Karin Hosenfeld MS, RD, CSSD, LD, a board certified sports dietitian, will provide nutrition counseling by appointment only. Community members pay a reduced fee for nutrition counseling. please see the appointments and policies page for rates.

Karin specializes in nutrition counseling for the following:

  • Weight management (Karin holds a certificate of training in Weight Management)
  • Sports nutrition (recreational, collegiate, Olympic, and elite athletes)
  • Cardiovascular health
  • Diabetes
  • Digestive health
  • Vegetarian nutrition
  • Food allergies/intolerances
  • Eating disorders


Advice from a Registered Dietitian is NOT a substitute for diagnosis by a medical doctor (MD). For certain conditions, Karin may refer clients to an MD for further evaluation. All adults should follow up with their primary physician at least annually for evaluation.
