Hilltop Sports Camp
Parent & Camper Information
| Why Hilltop Sports Camp? | |
| Hilltop Sports Camp promotes a well-rounded
recreational and athletic experience for campers ages 6-12 in
the beautiful newly renovated Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports
on the campus of Southern Methodist University.
Our highly trained staff has years of experience as campers, counselors, and program area coordinators in their field of expertise. The goal of the camp is to expose campers to a wide variety of unique recreational activities while also giving them the opportunity to participate in their old favorites. Campers will have the opportunity to participate in activities on the climbing wall, in the fitness studios, on the intramural fields, and in the swimming pool. Campers will be divided into group of 8-10 with other campers in their age range and have a student counselor taking them through the daily activities and offering support, guidance, and a lot of fun! Hilltop Sports Camp is the place to be this June! Please note that all campers must be 6 years old by September 1st, 2010 in order to register for our 2010 camps. Camp tuition for each session is $225. |
|
| Safety | |
| Hilltop Sports Camp is run directly by the
Recreational Sports Professionals in the Recreational Sports
Department at SMU. Each staff member will be available
throughout the day and leading the different activities at each
"station". Southern Methodist University students will serve as
general counselors of the camp in order to assure that each
camper has constant supervision while traveling between the
different activities.
At Hilltop Sports Camp there is a minimum of an 8:1 camper to staff ratio. All of our staff is American Red Cross First Aid and CPR certified and has been through a rigorous training in dealing with issues involving child supervision and emergency preparation. Every counselor will be asked to pass a background check before they are offered employment. |
|
| Pick-Up & Drop-Off Procedures | |
| Parents are asked to enter Airline Road from SMU
Boulevard and travel south on Airline until they reach the front
of the Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports. A Hilltop Sports Camp
counselor will be waiting with campers in front of the building
in order to confirm that an authorized parent or guardian is
picking up the child and ensure that the child has made it
safely to the car. Each person that is picking up a child must
have a tag displayed that is provided by the Hilltop Sports Camp
staff. This tag will be hung on the mirror so the HSC staff
member can clearly identify that the driver is authorized to
pick up a camper. Tags will be mailed out in the month of May.
On Friday afternoons parents are invited to park in the Dedman Center lot in order to enter the building and see the activities and projects the camper has been working on throughout the week. |
