Group Exercise Class Descriptions

Please Note:
* Not all classes will be on the current schedule
* Classes are taught to all fitness levels, modifications and progressions will be given as needed
* There will be a modified schedule over Spring Break

Athletic Step: This is similar to a traditional step class, yet there is more focus on simplifying the movements to enhance the athletic training component. The choreography will be less intricate, but more INTENSE allowing participants to perform basic movements with more power, depth and height to use the step as a "training tool" to a fitter you!

Barbell Blast: Work your muscles in every way possible in this class designed to build strength, add definition, increase your bone density, and decrease your body fat by increasing your lean muscle. Research has proven that by adding lean muscle to the body you can speed up your metabolism and burn more calories when you work out and at rest. You will use hand weights, and plate loaded barbells to change the shape of your body. No muscle gets neglected in this class!

Barre Blends: If you are looking to build long, lean muscle with ballet based movement this is the class for you! Define and strengthen in this unique and challenging workout that targets your arms, abs, hips, butt and thighs. This intense fusion of Pilates, sculpting, and ballet-based exercises will change the way your body looks – longer, leaner and stronger!

Booty Blast: This class targets the lower body and core. All major muscles in these target areas are worked using hi-repetition and low to medium resistance. Participants will incorporate dumbbells, body bars, bands, medicine balls, BOSU balls, and more into their workout to obtain the desired results.

Cycle: This is an indoor adventure on a stationary bike to simulate a real road experience. You will experience interval training that incorporates hill climbs, flat roads and speed work. Regular participants will benefit from increases in cardiovascular endurance and increased strength. Heart rate monitors are highly recommended. A towel and water bottle are required. This workout can be as moderate or as challenging as you need.

Gravity Strength: These exciting strength classes are held on our Gravity trainers. Gravity trainers are the commercial line of the popular “Total Gym.” Gravity Strength will heat up all the major muscle groups for an incredible total body workout. Each participant works at his/her chosen level of resistance. Participation is limited to 10, so come early.

Hard Core: Challenge yourself with this 30 minute, action-packed, core workout. Chisel your abdominals as you strengthen you lower back and improve your core strength.

Heavy Bag: This class takes cardio kickboxing and throws in boxing gloves and heavy boxing bags to add contact, resistance, force, and power that can take your boxing training to the next level. Whether your goal is to become more refined in your boxing technique, burn calories to the max with cardio and strength conditioning, or release stress by punching and kicking the bag, Heavy Bag Cardio Combat is for you!

HIIT Training: High Intensity Interval training is one of the most effective types of interval training. Through a variety of simple, yet intense timed exercises, each class will blast the calories and provide noticeable results in a short amount of time. Whether your goal is muscle tone, weight loss, or both, this class gives you the results you are seeking. This is a total body conditioning class where ALL fitness levels can expect to be challenged

Insanity: Instructors are now certified and bringing Insanity to health clubs and gyms in your area!! In this class participants perform long bursts of maximum-intensity exercises with short periods of rest. Each workout keeps you constantly challenged as you alternate between aerobic and anaerobic intervals performed at your MAX. The result: burn up to 1,000 calories in an hour and get the most insane body possible.

Interval Mixx:  Take your workouts to the next level with Interval Mixx Training. This class will build muscular strength and improve cardiovascular fitness by using intense strength and cardio exercises performed at specific intervals.

Pi/Yoga: A unique class combining Yoga and Pilate’s exercises designed to build strength and gain flexibility. The moves fit perfectly together to form a class filled with intense choreography that's fun, challenging and will make you sweat. It's about energy, power, and rhythm. Think sculpted abdominals, increased overall core strength, and greater stability – it doesn't get much better than that!

Power Yoga: This is a strong form of Yoga focusing on muscular endurance & flexibility. Emphasis is on poses and teachings derived from Ashtanga Yoga. Participation is open to all levels.

Claudiumba: Anyone who has taken this class knows that Claudia has extraordinary skill teaching Latin-based fitness dance classes. Claudia grew up in Peru, and has been dancing since she was 2. In “Claudiumbia,” Latin dance rhythms will pulse through the speakers, inspiring you to move with the beat. Claudia will mix moves derived from zumba, salsa, samba, and meringue. You will leave class feeling successful and energized.

Sunrise Yoga: A traditional yoga class held in the early morning hours to help awaken and rejuvenate your body for the rest of the day. Come enjoy the sensation of starting your day off with a sense of peace, calmness, strength, energy and revitalization!

Zumba: Ditch the workout and join the party! This fun and easy to follow cardio dance class combines high-energy and motivating Latin music with unique moves and combinations that make you feel like you are partying on the dance floor. Easy to follow, and something everyone can do - Zumba is the best way to "dance away your worries". We promise, exercise has never been so fun!

TRX BootCamp: Suspension Training is a workout that develops strength, balance, flexibility and core stability simultaneously. It requires the use of the TRX® Suspension Trainer™, a highly portable performance training tool that leverages gravity and the user’s body weight to enable hundreds of exercises for every fitness goal. This class is limited to 10 participants, so be sure to arrive early. First come, first serve.

Cardio Dance: This class I sure to get you ready for the weekend with a medley of dance moves. Your heart will pound as you shake things up with intense Zumba inspired moves or get down with the latest hip hop dance.

Turbokick: this addictive workout combines shadow boxing, kickboxing, sports drills, dancing, yoga, and simple dance moves in a party atmosphere where losing weight is the side effect of having FUN! Turbo Kick® is an interval based class that allows participants of any fitness level to participate and custom tailor their workouts.

Hip Hop Hustle: A combination of easy to learn hip-hop dance moves perfectly choreographed to the latest hip hop songs. Get motivated and participate in this high Energy class and groove yourself to a new you. It is the ultimate cardiovascular challenge that feels like a party!
