Samuel Weyand
SMU's entrant in the US Collegiate National Track Championships

To all,
I just got back from nationals and here’s the scoop. The Kilo’s were Friday night in San Diego and I end up with a pb of 1:13.68 (three seconds faster than in Houston last week) placing 17th out of 55. The time that got first was 1:10.22. Saturday morning the sprint tournament started with the 200TT where the fastest 18 times moved on. With a 12.50 I ended up 18th (out of 48), just barely making the cut. Because I had the slowest time out of those that qualified, I had to race the fasted rider who rode a 11.60, and lost. After that I went to the round one repechage (3 up) and won, so I went on to round two. I lost round two, and went on the round two repechage. I won that as well but was relegated to 3rd for coming out of the sprinter’s lane. Because of that, I was knocked out of the semifinals into the 9-12th race and won, so I ended up with 9th place.
Regards,
Samuel
