All filming and photography activities on the campus of Southern Methodist University are arranged and coordinated through the SMU Office of Public Affairs.
Please contact Sherry Myres in Public Affairs/Integrated Marketing at 214-768-7624 to coordinate your film or photo shoot. We will fax you an information packet, including details on fees and contracts.
SMU requires at least two weeks advance notice for film projects and one week advance notice for still photography projects.
Location fees: SMU’s location fee includes all arrangements by Public Affairs. Fees may be paid by check payable to Southern Methodist University and mailed to:

When certain facilities (i.e. athletic facilities or Meadows theaters) are used as a location, additional surcharges may be required. Those charges are determined by the facility.
Insurance requirements: The client company is responsible for furnishing a copy of an original certificate of insurance, with minimum requirements, to Public Affairs at least one week in advance of the filming date (at least three days in advance for photography projects). SMU must be named as an additional insured and as a certificate holder of the policy. Below are the minimum requirements:

Public Affairs must receive your proof of insurance at least seven days before your shoot.
Script approval: A copy of the final script or storyboard may be required, and approval must be granted prior to signing the contract letter agreement.
Sports events: All filming of sports-related events on campus must comply with NCAA rules. Public Affairs can provide details if needed.
