ANDREA RENE JAIN
Andrea R. Jain graduated in 2004 from Southern Methodist University with a B.A. in Psychology, Philosophy, and Religious Studies. In 2010, she received her Ph.D. in Religious Studies and a Graduate Certificate in the Study of Women, Gender, and Sexuality from Rice University. Andrea is currently an Assistant Professor of Religious Studies at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. Her research interests include theories of religion as well as religion in relation to the body. More specifically, her research focuses on the transnational construction and global popularization of modern yoga. Andrea’s current projects include studies on the intersections of consumer culture and modern yoga as well as modern yoga gurus.
Andrea is from Frisco, Texas, and majored in psychology, religion, and philosophy.
