Stellar Seniors of 2012

After nearly four years of academic achievement, study abroad, internships, mentoring, friendships and leadership activities, 38 senior President’s Scholars take their ambitions and venture out in all new directions . Best of luck to you all!

Marissa Berenson received a BBA in accounting with a minor in Spanish. She will get her Masters of Accounting at SMU and then begin working for accounting firm BDO International in spring of 2013.

Hunter Brown received a BA in history with minors in classical studies, German and Latin. He attended the Summer Business Institute at the Cox School of Business in June 2012 and then will begin his internship in September 2012 with Disney in Orlando.

Nick Burns was graduated magna cum laude with a BS in biological sciences and a minor in chemistry. He will attend the University of Texas Medical Center in Galveston.

Trigg Burrage was graduated magna cum laude with a BBA in management and a BFA in theatre studies. After graduation Trigg will be traveling with his magic act to places like Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Indianapolis. He will begin working for Deloitte in Dallas in September 2012.

Sharon Chan was graduated magna cum laude with a BBA in accounting and minors in Chinese and economics. She will attend graduate school for one year to obtain a Master's in Accounting then obtain her CPA and work for Ernst and Young in Dallas.

Michelle Clinton was graduated summa cum laude with a BS in chemistry and a minor in business administration. She will attend UT Health Science Center San Antonio Dental School. Michelle is not sure if she will specialize in orthodontia or general practice.

Maret Delf was graduated magna cum laude with a BA in psychology and a BBA in marketing with minors in philosophy and art history. She will attend Harvard Law School beginning fall 2012.

Kevin Eaton was graduated summa cum laude with a BA in economics, political science, and public policy. He will defer his admission to Stanford Law in order to pursue a Masters of Philosophy in Politics at Brasenose College in Oxford. Before moving to Oxford he will coach debate at University of Texas National Institute of Forensics.

Catherine Essig was graduated magna cum laude with a BA in English and a minor in political science. After graduation she will work as a paralegal clerk at Baker Botts in Dallas.

Alexandra Feldman was graduated cum laude with a BA in markets and cultures and a minor in Spanish. After graduation she will attend medical school at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. Before starting medical school Allie will travel as much as possible and shadow doctors in a Houston hospital.

Ayana Fletcher-Tyson was graduated cum laude with a BA in psychology and a minor in elementary teaching. After graduation she will work for two year with Teach for America in Nashville, Tennessee.

Joe Gaasbeck was graduated cum laude with a BS in mathematics and management science with minors in computer engineering and business administration. Joe will attend the Dedman School of Law at SMU after graduation.

Matthew Gayer was graduated with a BA in political science and public policy and minors in biological sciences, economics, and human rights. He will work with Break Away National Alternative Break Organization and then attend Syracuse Master of Public Administration Program in 2013.

Jessica Hawks was graduated cum laude with a BA in English and medieval studies and minors in history and classical studies. Jessica will be working for Sendero Consulting Firm after graduation and will be married in June to Chance Meeks.

Howard He was graduated summa cum laude with a BS in biochemistry and a minor in business administration. He will attend Baylor Dental School in Waco after graduation.

Saira Husain was graduated with a BA in biological sciences and anthropology and a minor in Spanish. She is getting married in June and then will pursue a career in public health concentrating on the refugee cohort, eventually obtaining a PhD and work with Centers for Disease Control or UNICEF.

Vladimir Jovanovic was graduated summa cum laude with a BS in computer science and a minor in physics. He will attend the SMU 4+1 engineering program after graduation.

Lydia Kapp was graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Spanish and a BFA in theater studies. After graduation Lydia will go home to Colorado to finalize her play Fortune's King and submit to various theaters and festival for full production. She will write on her blog lydiagkapp.wordpress.com, writing new plays and polishing them for submission to competitions. She plans to move to Los Angeles to pursue acting for film and television.

Rachel Kittrell (Engles) was graduated summa cum laude with a BA in psychology. Rachel graduated a semester early in December 2011 and entered the SMU Guildhall to study level design.

Amanda Koons was graduated magna cum laude with a BA in international studies, Spanish, political science, and anthropology and minors in history and human rights. She will attend Northwestern Law School in their JD/LLM program pursuing International Human Rights Law.

Daniel Lopez was graduated with a BS in mechanical engineering and mathematics. Daniel will work in the Major Projects Division of TD Industries as a project manager after graduation.

Adriana Martinez was graduated with a BA in French, history, and political science and public policy with a minor in human rights. Adriana will attend graduate school in Chicago pursuing international politics focusing on Mexico, hoping to one day work for the United Nations.

Michelle Pillers was graduated with a BS in chemistry, a BA in biological sciences and a minor in physics. She will attend Notre Dame to pursue a PhD in chemistry with a specialization in nanotechnology materials and chemistry.

Patrick Probst was graduated summa cum laude with a BS in biological sciences, a BA in economics and minors in chemistry and Spanish. Patrick will work at Depaul Hospital in St. Louis with a general surgeon and then will begin St. Louis University Medical School fall of 2012.

Katherine Rossi was graduated summa cum laude with a BA in psychology, BBA in marketing and minors in economics of decision making, cultural anthropology and religious studies. Katherine will take a year off to relax and travel potentially starting a business before either working with Teach for America or pursuing a Master’s degree in psychology.

Maria Elena Sanchez was graduated with a BBA in accounting and a minor in psychology. She will begin her Master’s in Accounting at SMU in the fall.

Jessica Schauwecker was graduated summa cum laude with a BBA in finance. She will finish her degree plan through Dedman College in December 2012 receiving a BA in creative writing. After graduation she will work with oil marketing and publishing. She is also searching for an agent for her fantasy fiction novel, which she completed this year. Beginning fall 2012 she will finish her English degree and then possibly pursue an MFA in creative writing at SMU.

Nico Stirling was graduated magna cum laude with a BS in economics with financial applications and a BBA in finance. Nico will work with Deloitte Consulting beginning summer 2012 and then pursue his MBA.

Corbin Swagerty was graduated summa cum laude with a BSEE in electrical engineering. He will work with Ignite Studios in Chicago and work on his music.

Sanaz Talaifar was graduated magna cum laude with a BA in international studies and French with minors in psychology and political science. She will work with Egon Zehnder Executive Search Firm after graduation and then will teach English in Normandy France through the French Embassy beginning in fall 2012.

Brian Tenner was graduated summa cum laude with a BS in biochemistry and mathematics. He is going to Johns Hopkins University to pursue his PhD in molecular biophysics.

Amrita Vir was graduated summa cum laude with a BBA in finance and minors in international studies, economics and Chinese. She will begin working with Booz and Company in the fall 2012.

Chelsea Walker was graduated magna cum laude with a BBA in accounting and a minor in political science. She will work with Teach for America in Dallas teaching high school mathematics for two years. She wants to return to SMU to obtain Masters in Accounting and then sit for the CPA exam. She will then work for Deloitte as a tax accountant.

Megan Welch was graduated summa cum laude with a BS in mathematics and mechanical engineering. She is working as a design engineer for Baker Hughes in Houston.

Note:
    Jessica Maxey will graduate in December 2012. She will then pursue her PhD in electrical engineering;

    Matthew Rispoli
will graduate in December 2012 and then finish his 4+1 in electrical engineering;

    Charlton Roberts
will graduate in December 2012. He wants to pursue acting;

    Cristina Sanders will graduate in December 2012. She interned during the summer of 2012 at Stanford University and will return to SMU to finish her degree plan.
