Applying for the 2013 NEH Summer Stipend

To Faculty Working in the Humanities:

We encourage you to apply for the 2013 NEH Summer Stipend, which provides $6,000 for two consecutive months of full-time research and writing. Each university is allowed to nominate two faculty members. Projects at any stage of development are eligible for consideration.

To apply, please send a preliminary two-page proposal draft and one-page vita to khugley@smu.edu before July 31.

Assuming a non-specialist audience, please state clearly what the project is and specifically address these criteria, which the national selection committee would use in its review:

• How the project will be carried out;
• Timeline;
• How this will address not only specialists but also a larger, more general humanities audience;
• How, specifically, the funding will be used.

A nominating panel will convene in early August to determine our nominees. Those applications are then accepted by NEH through their final deadline, generally September 30.
