M.A.P.S. is an organization that
strives to provide knowledge, skills, and experience to students who
have aspirations of entering the health field.
The overall goals of M.A.P.S. are:

To serve the health
needs of underrepresented communities
§
To educate people
about the importance of health matters
§
To ensure cultural
sensitivity to the needs of a diverse population
§
To assist students in
preparing to matriculate into their chosen medical or health
associated professional school
M.A.P.S. is a program sponsored by
the Student National Medical Association. SNMA is the oldest and
largest medical student organization dedicated to underrepresented
or underprivileged pre-health students and underserved communities.
Committed to increasing the number of culturally capable and
sensitive physicians, the SNMA is also dedicated to the academic and
clinical success of medical students and pre-health students.
Through signature programs such as M.A.P.S. among many others, the
SNMA members work with youth from elementary school to college
introducing them to science ad serving as mentors. In this way, the
SNMA strengthens the educational pipeline that leads from elementary
school to professional school
