2004 TRENCH PC 20
Ivo van der Graaff, Field Supervisor
Sarah Titus, Assistant Field Supervisor
Week 1:
The excavation has started with some suspense
this year, as this is the first time I am a supervisor at the
dig. The first week of the field school was spent nursing our
trench back into a presentable fashion after it had been left
to settle for four years. In fact it has been decided that this
year we will continue excavation in an area partially worked
on by my predecessor Justin Winkler. Apart from a couple of very
large roots burrowing their way into our scarps and some infant
acacia trees and rose bushes, we cleared the site relatively
easily.

Removal of backfill from
Trench PC 20 at the beginning of the 2003 season.

Overview of PC 20 at the
end of Week 1.
