It was another eventful week at Poggio Colla. Excavation continued on the top of the hill where all the FandM students are located. This past weekend was our long break in which Sarah, Kamissa, Torrie and Rachael traveled with others to Rimini and Jon went with another friend to Rome. The beach was beautiful and relaxing; the perfect place to travel for a well-needed rest. Jon saw all of the sights in Rome including the Colosseum, Roman Forum, St. Peter's Basilica and the Spanish steps…just to name a few.

The real excitement began when our guilty pleasure, our own Professor Alexis Q. Castor, surprised all of the FandM students with a surprise visit. She is spending a few days with her delighted students looking at some of the finds from previous seasons and visiting with our beloved Dean Steiner. In the next few days we hope to see her in excavator mode.

Jonathan Mort and Sarah McCrory.

To break-up the occasional monotony of digging during the week a few of the FandM students along with a prominent Muhlenberg student have deemed all Wednesdays "theme days." To date we have participated in "thug day" and "pirate day", both of which were huge successes. Sadly the finds for this week thus far have been few and far between, however the week is young and we are hopeful. We apologize for the lack of exciting discoveries L.
