After ten cumulative years here at Poggio Colla the lab staff has certainly learned to deal with the uncertain, with the fact that the excavation and community continually throw us curve balls. Well this year is, of course, no different. However, that curve ball was the fact that our former downtown magazzino space (where we have not been since the 2002 season) has been beautifully renovated and we have been welcomed back to it, minus the dead scorpions stuck in the plastic on the wall that prevented plaster from falling on us; minus the kinda' nasty gooey spots on the floor; minus the window frames that were so eaten away that they never closed properly. Now it is an immaculate space, with both electric lights and something that we still are not sure how to deal with here in the lab… functioning indoor pluming, but we are certain we can learn to adapt to the fact we now have running water.
