2004 TRENCHES PF 5E, 10, & 15 Katherine Blanchard, Field Supervisor Laura Crowley, Assistant Field Supervisor Week 3: Field Students: Abby Christofferson Sanda Heinz Andrew McClellan The reopening of PF15 this season was based upon the anticipation of excavating down onto the "floor level" visible in the vertical profile of PF5E. Over the last two days, Andrew and Abby have cleared onto the top of it and have nearly finished the pass in one locus. No objects have been found upon it, and so we are starting to ask a new series of questions as to what activities might have occurred in this area. In the mean time, Sanda and Laura have carefully defined around a series of rocks and tile fragments. This spill is in line with a wall spur from our building and is parallel to another rock/tile feature that was inline with a center spur wall as well. The fragments and rocks could be evidence of terracing, but are relatively shallow and perhaps would not have provided much support. I expect the pass along the top of the "floor level" in the northern locus of PF15 will be finished by the end of the day tomorrow and we will be able to see the relation of the spill and the occupation level.
