About SMU Plano
The convenience of Plano and the legacy of SMU
In the fall of 1997 we opened SMU-in-Plano in Plano’s Legacy Business Park, and expanded our reach north into Collin County and beyond. The journey of SMU-in-Plano began with a few well defined goals:
- Extend SMU’s reach to meet the educational needs of residents in rapidly growing Collin County
- Make it easier for working professionals to earn advanced degrees and certifications necessary to get ahead in their careers
- Collaborate with area businesses and design programs that tap into the resources of the entire university.
We’ve come a long way. Today, SMU-in-Plano enrolls over 900 adults in some of the finest graduate studies and professional development programs in Collin County County, North Texas and the nation. In the summer we have about 2,000 children participating in programs designed to enhance academic skills.
Let us know what we can do to help you enhance your career, inspire additional learning, and create a desire to lead. We’re in the neighborhood.
The SMU-in-Plano Campus
Our facility is located in the heart of Legacy Business Park, just off Tennyson Parkway in Plano and Collin County. The campus is set on 16 landscaped acres and consists of four buildings with close to 200,000 sq. ft. We have over 50 classrooms, seminar spaces and computer labs custom designed to meet the needs of our programs. An additional nine acres adjacent to the facility will give SMU-in-Plano room to grow in the future.
