Parking, ID cards and courtesy rides via the Giddy Up are all services provided by the Park 'N Pony Office.
To secure the necessary traffic and crowd control measures, persons or organizations planning activities that involve campus streets or the usage of campus parking lots should notify the Park 'N Pony Office and the SMU Police Department at least one week in advance. Failure to do so may result in the event not being approved. Events will be approved on a first come/first serve basis particularly if the event requires university police officers to be present.
The SMU Police Department provides fingerprinting services to faculty, staff and students for a fee of $10. Please be sure to bring the fingerprint card provided to you by your college or employer to the SMU Police Department Room 212.
Need a jump start? Locked your keys in your car? Vehicle Assist, offered by the SMU Police Department, is offered to anyone on the SMU campus 24 hours a day 7 days a week. If the vehicle has power locks the Officer will not be able to unlock it for you, but will be able to provide you with a number to call a lock smith if you need one. The Sexual Harassment Assault and Rape Prevention (SHARP) program has been specifically designed to meet the needs of women when control methods and assault prevention methods are required. The course teaches effective methods of subject control that do not rely on size and strength. This training system can be used by just about everyone who is interested in personal safety. Emergency Blue Light phones are strategically located throughout the exterior areas of the campus, parking garages and parking lots. Upon pressing the call button, you will be in immediate contact with SMU Police Department. When an emergency phone is activated, an officer will dispatch to the location of the Blight Light phone to investigate.
The "Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act" is a federal law enacted on October 28, 2000 that provides for the tracking of convicted, registered sex offenders enrolled as students at institutions of higher education, or working or volunteering on campus. Information about registered sex offenders may be found on the Texas Department of Public Safety web site.
