JULY 1

090681    6:53 AM    Sexual Assault:    McElvaney Residence Hall.    A student reported she was sexually assaulted by another student in April 2009.    Closed.      CRIME ALERT ISSUED.

090682    10:46 AM    Fire Alarm:      3109 Daniel Street.    An Officer responded to a fire alarm activation.  The fire alarm panel showed a trouble signal.  The house mom advised she would submit a repair request with the alarm company.    Closed.

090683    3:23 PM    Off Campus Sexual Assault:    2900 Block University Dr.    A student reported to the University Park Police Department she was sexually assaulted by a taxi cab driver.    Closed.    CRIME ALERT ISSUED.

090688    12:07 AM    Public Intoxication:    6212 Bishop Blvd.    A former student was arrested for being intoxicated in public.      Closed.

090689    12:07 PM    Criminal Mischief:    Owens Fine Art Center Parking Lot.    The gate arm was broken at this location.    Open.   

090690    3:38 PM    Burglary:    Paul B. Loyd Jr., All Sports Center.    A staff member reported a break-in at several offices in this building.      Open.

090691    4:25 PM    Warrants:    6000 Block Dublin St.    A non-affiliated individual was arrested and booked into the Dallas County Jail for outstanding warrants.    Closed.

JULY 6

090692    8:00 AM    Burglary:    Paul B. Loyd Jr., All Sports Center.    Staff members reported their doors were pried open with a screwdriver.    Open.    CRIME ALERT ISSUED.

090693    9:24 AM    Fire:    Junkins Bldg./6251 Airline.    Officers responded to a smoldering trashcan.  University Park Fire Department was not dispatched.  The officers put out the fire and reported no damage was caused.    Closed.

JULY 7

090695    1:57 PM    Theft:    Umphrey Lee Center/3300 Dyer/Cafeteria Lobby.    A former student reported theft of her backpack.    Open.

090696    9:17 PM    Failure To Leave Identification:    Moody Parking Garage/3063 SMU Blvd./2nd Level.    A student reported her vehicle was struck while parked and no identification was left.   Open.   

JULY 8

090698    3:09 PM    Fire Alarm:    3064 SMU Blvd.    Officer responded to an active fire alarm.  The officer made contact with personnel from the alarm company who said they had been conducting tests on the fire panel.  University Park Fire Department did not respond.    Closed.

JULY 9

090700    3:15 PM    Disorderly Conduct:    Barr Pool/6025 Ownby.    A non affiliated person reported she saw an unknown white male on his hands and knees watching her change into her swim clothing in the women's restroom.  When she looked around the corner and saw him he stood to his feet and ran out of the restroom.    Open.

JULY 10

090701    6:09 AM    Public Intoxication/Possession of Fictitious ID:    Virginia Snider Hall/Parking Spaces In Front of Building.    A student was arrested and booked into the Highland Park Jail for being intoxicated in public and having a fake ID.      He will also be referred to the Conduct Officer.    Closed.

090706    9:38 PM.    Fire Alarm (Trouble Alarm):   Perkins Hall/6004/Attic.    An Officer responded to an active trouble alarm.  It was determined the fire panel reset itself and the status was indicating normal.  The Officer conducted a walk  through of the attic with on signs of smoke, fire or any tampering with the alarm system.  Closed.

090707    7:27  PM.    Fire Alarm:      Perkins Hall/6004 Hillcrest/Kitchen.     University Park Fire Department arrived to an active fire alarm.  It was determined burned instant noodles in the microwave was the cause of the alarm activation.  UPFD reset the alarm and cleared with no further incident.    Closed.

090708    10:07 AM.    Harassment:    10:07 AM.    Kirby Hall/5915 Bishop.    A staff member reported receiving harassing phone calls from an unknown person.  Open.

JULY 16

090709    3:42 PM.    Fire :    3:42 PM.    An Officer observed a large towel on fire hanging from the fence.  It was determined the fire was caused from construction workers welding on the roof of the building.  University Park Fire Department did not respond.    Closed.

JULY 17

090710    4:55 PM.    Fire (Accidental):      Selecman Hall /2nd Floor.    A staff member reported she accidentally hit the fire alarm pull station with some boxes she was carrying.  An officer responded and reset the pull station clearing the fire panel.    Closed.

090714    9:38 PM.    Burglary:   South Lot Bicycle Locker.    A staff member reported the theft of two bicycles from a bicycle storage facility.    Open. 

JULY 18

090715    3:06 PM.    Criminal Mischief:    Binkley Parking Garage.    A non-affiliated individual reported someone broke the window of his vehicle.    Open.

090719    7:54 AM.    Trouble Alarm/Fire Safety:    Chi Omega Sorority House.    The Officer responded to silence a possible intrusion alarm.  Officer determined it was a trouble alarm with the fire alarm system.  The house mother was advised to contact the alarm company for maintenance.    Closed.

090722    1:20 PM.    Theft:    Dallas Hall/Northeast Bicycle Rack.    A non-affiliated individual reported his bicycle was stolen.    Open.

JULY 21

090724    9:46 AM.    Burglary of A Building:    Owens Arts Center/Room 2172.    A staff member reported an attempted burglary with damage to the door lock core.    Open.

JULY 22

090730    8:23 AM.    Fire Alarm:    Pi Kappa Alpha/3035 Dyer St.    An officer responded to an active fire alarm.  The contractors said the activation was caused by dust in the smoke detectors.  University Park Fire Department did not respond.  The officer reset the fire panel and cleared with no further incident.    Closed.

090731    8:59 AM.    Burglary of a Building:    Paul Loyd All Sports Center/5800 Ownby.    A staff member reported theft of a black Adidas duffel bag with the emblem "SMU Mustang Club".  Pry marks  to a safe were also noted with no signs of forced entry into the office.    Open.

090732    4:49 AM.    Theft:    Hughes Trigg/3140 Dyer St.    A student reported theft of a black Swiss Army brand backpack which contained an IPOD and a Cannon digital camera.    Open.

JULY 24

090733       10:17 AM.    Fire Alarm:    Pi Kappa Alpha (PIKE) House.    A contractor accidently set off the fire alarm.    Closed.

090734    4:21 PM.    Theft.    SMU Bookstore/Barnes & Noble.    A staff member reported a theft.    Open.

090735    7:41 PM.    Theft        West Quad Lot.    A staff member reported her bicycle was stolen.    Open.

JULY 25

090737    10:59 AM.    Fire Alarm:    Gerald J. Ford Stadium.    Painters activated the fire alarm system.    Closed.

090740    4:25 PM.    Warrants:    A non-affiliated male was taken into custody for outstanding Dallas County warrants.    Closed.

090741    5:20 PM.    Burglary.    Owens Fine Art Center.    A staff member reported the theft of a projector.    Open.

JULY 26

090742    3:23 AM.    Trouble Alarm.    Patterson Hall/SMU PD.      A smoke detector in the women's bathroom kept activating the fire alarm panel.    Open.

090743    11:59 AM.    Theft.    Moody Coliseum.    A non-affiliated individual reported the theft of his backpack.    Open.

090744    12:47 PM.    Theft.    Moody Coliseum.    A non-affiliated individual reported the theft of his backpack.    Open.

090748    10:14 AM.    Trouble Alarm.    McElvaney Hall.    Officers responded to a trouble alarm at this location in reference to the smoke detector in room 357.  Officers checked the smoke detector in the room which appeared to be in working order.    Closed.

090750    1:46 PM.    Burglary.    Owens Fine Art Center.    A staff member reported the theft of her stereo.    Open.

090751    2:37 AM.    Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor.    Mary Hay Hall.    A student was referred to the Conduct Officer for underage drinking.    Closed.

090752   8:13 PM.      Theft.    Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports.    A staff member reported money stolen out of his secured locker.      Open.

JULY 30

090756    12:37 PM.    Credit Card Abuse.    SMU PD/Patterson Hall.    A student reported someone used her credit card information, without her permission,  to buy items online.    Open.

090757    4:28 PM.    Theft.     SMU Bookstore/Barnes & Noble.    An unknown male walked out of the bookstore with books he did not pay for and an employee recovered the books from the individual in the parking lot before he drove away.    Open.
