060737  Criminal Mischief:  West Quad Parking Lot.  A student reported that someone broke off the passenger side mirror from her car.  Closed.

060741  Driving While Intoxicated:  3100 Block of Binkley.  A non-affiliated man was arrested for DWI and booked into jail.  Closed.

060742    5:50 AM:    Public Intoxication:  Greenville and University Boulevard.  A student was issued a court citation for being intoxicated in a public place.  Closed.

060743    4:01 PM:    Failure to Leave Identification (Accident Scene):  West Quad Lot.  A student reported someone caused damage to her vehicle and failed to leave information.  Open.

060746    3:32 PM:  Theft - Class A ($500-1499):  Hamon Arts Library.  A staff member reported a laptop computer was stolen from a secured display case.  Open.

06074   5:08 PM:  Theft - Class C (Less than $50.00):  Paul B Loyd All Sports Center.  A student report someone stole her personal toiletry items from the shower area.  Open.

060748  3:30 AM:  Public Intoxication/Possession of a Counterfeit Driver's License:  West Quad Lot.  Two students were arrested after being found in the West Quad Lot severely intoxicated.  One of the students was in possession of two counterfeit driver's licenses.  Closed.

060749  1:46 PM:  Burglary of a Coin Operated Machine:  Fondren Science Building.  Someone broke into a soft drink vending machine and stole cash.  Open

060750  10:18 PM:  Theft - Class A ($500 - $1499.00):  Greer Garson Theater.  A non-affiliated man was arrested after being caught stealing a new Apple iMac computer, keyboard, and other peripherals.  Closed.


July 8

060751  12:40 AM:  Driving While Intoxicated:  6200 Block Bishop Blvd.  A non-affiliated woman was arrested and charged with DWI.  Closed

060752  12:30 PM:  Theft - Class B ($50.00 - $499.00):  Moody Coliseum Athletic Marketing Dept.  An employee reported someone stole her pocket PC.  Her office was unlocked and unattended for two hours.  Open.

060754    7:38 AM:    Criminal Mischief:  Patterson Parking Lot.  Someone damaged the driver's side window on an SMU vehicle parked in the lot.

060755    6:46 PM:    Theft - Class B ($50-499):  Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports.  A student reported someone stole his keys and SMU ID from the open storage shelves.  The student later called and reported he found his property.  Unfounded-No offense exist.

060756    12:43 AM:    Driving While Intoxicated:  6000 Block of Airline Road.  A non-affiliated man was arrested for operating a motor vehicle on a public roadway while intoxicated.  The man was transported to UP Jail.  Closed.

060757    12:10 AM:    Driving Under the Influence by a Minor:  3200 Block of McFarlin Boulevard.  A student was issued a citation for operating a motor vehicle on a public roadway while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.  Closed.

060762    12:59 AM:    Driving Under the Influence by a Minor/Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor:   3100 Block of Binkley Avenue.  A student was cited for driving her vehicle while under the influence of alcoholic beverages.  Two student passengers in the vehicle will be referred to the Judicial Officer for underage drinking.  Closed.

060765    10:59 AM:    Theft - Class B ($50-499):    SMU-In-Legacy, Building 2.    A staff member reported someone stole her computer screen from her desk.  Open.

060766    1:59 PM:    Burglary of a Coin-Operated Machine:    Hyer Hall.    A staff member reported someone burglarized several snack machines on the first floor.  Open.

060767    2:01 PM:    Attempted Burglary of a Coin-Operated Machine:    Dallas Hall.    A staff member reported someone attempted to burglarized a snack machine on the ground floor.  Open.

060768    2:02 PM:    Burglary of a Coin-Operated Machine:    Fondren Science Building.    A staff member reported someone burglarized a snack machine on the first floor.  Open.

060770    7:00 PM:    Theft - Class B ($50-499):    Owens Arts Center.  A student reported someone stole her purse from an unsecured studio.  Open.

060771    3:05 PM:    Theft - Class B ($50-499):    Caruth Hall.  A staff member reported someone stole an uninterruptible power supply from an unsecured classroom.  Open.

060772    3:18 PM:    Theft - Class C (Less than $50):    Hamons Arts Library.  A staff member reported someone stole approximately eight books from a clearance book sale.  Open.

060773    7:40 PM:    Criminal Mischief:    Blanton Building Fountain.  A staff member reported filled the fountain with soap causing damage.  Open.


July 19

060774   1:19 PM:    Theft - Class B ($50-499):    Commuter Lot.  A staff member reported someone stole fence panels which were stacked in the southeast corner of the lot.  Open.


July 20

060776    2:20 PM:    Theft - (State Jail Felony):    SMU Bookstore.  A non-affiliated man attempted to steal two textbooks, but was confronted by a store employee.  The man fled to a waiting taxi. SMU Police investigators identified the man and determined he is the leader of an organized textbook theft ring stealing from many area college bookstores.  He was captured off campus and booked into the Dallas County Jail.  Other arrests are pending.  Open.


July 21

060778    4:25 PM:    Burglary of a Building/Criminal Mischief:    Loyd All Sport Center.  A wall mounted television was stolen after someone forcibly entered the "Hall of Champions".  A second television was damaged after being removed from a wall bracket. Open.

060780   11:11 PM:    Burglary of Habitation:    Shuttles Hall.  Seven Cheer Camp participants had personal property stolen from their secured rooms.  The suspect was later identified by police as one of the participants.  None of the victims filed charges.  Closed

060781    1:58 PM:    Criminal Mischief:    Binkley Avenue Apartments.  An officer observed black spray paint on the door of a storage building.  Open. 

060782    10:18 PM:    Theft - Class B ($50-499):    Binkley Avenue Apartments.  A student reported someone stole her clothing from the north laundry room.  Open.


July 24

060783   8:04 AM:    Burglary of a Building:    Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports.  Over a three-day period, a man entered the storage area for the Outdoor Adventure Section and stole six bicycles, a desktop computer and other assorted items.  The offenses occurred between 07/21/06 at 9:00 PM and 07/24/06 at 8:00 AM.  Police have a general description of the suspect. Open.

060784   8:18 AM:   Burglary of a Building:    Blanton Student Services Building.  Two LCD flat screen monitors were stolen from the 1st floor lobby and a computer system from an unsecured workroom.  The offense occurred between 07/22/06 at 7:00 PM and 07/23/06 at 11:00 AM.  Open.  Update:  A suspect has been arrested and charged.  Investigation continues.

060787    8:17 AM:    Burglary of a Building:    Owens Art Center.  A contractor reported the theft of twenty electrical switches from an unsecured storage area.  The offense occurred between 07/26/06 at 3:10 PM and 07/27/06 at 7:00 AM.  Open.

060788    10:18 PM:    Theft - Class B ($50-499):    Binkley Avenue Apartments.  A student reported someone stole her secured bicycle from a stairway rail.  Open.

060790    11:46 PM:    Public Intoxication:  6000 Block of Airline Road.  A man was arrested after he was found "huffing" paint thinner while seated in his parked car.  Closed.

060794    1:10 PM:    Burglary of a Motor Vehicle:  University Parking Lot.  A student reported someone burglarized his unsecured vehicle and stole his cell phone.  Open.
