Crime log case numbers do not run sequentially. The SMU Police Department assigns a case number for all reportable activities, both criminal and non-criminal. Only case numbers generated for criminal activity are listed in the crime log.
Crimes are in chronological order. The most recent crimes are at the bottom of the list.

060252 3:50 AM: Consumption of Alcohol By a Minor: McElvaney Hall. Six people were caught drinking beer in a student's room. Four are students and two are non-affiliated. The students will be referred to the Judicial Officer and the non-affiliated people were each issued a citation and received a criminal trespass warning. Closed.

060255 10:09 AM: Criminal Attempt, Theft: SMU Bookstore. A bookstore employee reported a man concealed a book under his coat and was about to leave the store without paying. She confronted the man. He left the book and departed the store. She obtained a vehicle license plate number. and reported it to police. Open.

A search of the purse for the owner's ID revealed drug paraphernalia and a counterfeit drivers license. The student who owns the property was cited. Closed.

060264 1:18 AM: Driving While Intoxicated/Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: 6200 block of Hillcrest Ave. A non-affiliated man was arrested for DWI. A passenger was arrested for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor. Closed.
060265 5:25 AM: Criminal Mischief: McElvaney Hall. Someone damaged ceiling tiles on the third floor. Closed.
060266 8:06 AM: Sexual Assault: 2949 Binkley Ave: The father of a 16 year old high school girl reported his daughter was dropped off by her friends at the apartment of a 20 year old male student. She apparently spent the night with the man without the parents' knowledge. The parents of the girl have filed a criminal complaint against the male student under a statutory rape clause. An investigation is still on going. Open
(Amendment to this investigation: On 2/22/06, the suspect was arrested by SMU Police for one count of "Indecency with a Child - a 2nd degree felony. The suspect was booked into the Dallas County Jail.) The investigation into the sexual assault case is pending the findings of the examination of forensic evidence.)
