051107    2:45 AM:    Public Intoxication/Criminal Trespass Warning:  A non-affiliated man was arrested for Public Intoxication in the 3000 block of Binkley Avenue.  The man was issued a criminal trespass warning and transported to UP Jail.  Closed.

051113    1:46 PM:    Criminal Trespass Warning:    Two solicitors were contacted in the 2900 block of Binkley Avenue alley.  The two men were selling magazine subscriptions.  Both men were issued criminal trespass warnings and left campus.  Closed.

051114  12:30 AM:  Sick or Injured Person:  Officers and UP EMS checked on a student in Boaz Hall.  Closed.

051115  2:20 AM:  Driving Under the Influence by a Minor/Possession of Fictitious ID/Consumption of Alcohol by Minor:  Two students were  contacted during a traffic stop in the 3200 block of Binkley Ave.  The driver is a minor and had been consuming alcoholic beverages.  He also was caught trying to conceal a counterfeit driver's license.  The passenger had also been drinking.  The driver was issued a court citation for DUI Minor and Possession of a Fictitious ID.  The passenger was cited for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor. Closed.

051116  2:34 AM:  Vehicle Accident:  Two non-affiliated men were involved in a vehicle accident in the 3200 block of Binkley Ave.  Minor damage.  Closed.

051117  4:20 AM:  Tampering with Fire Protection System/Fire Alarm:  Officers and UP Fire Department responded to investigate a fire alarm at the Pi Kappa Alpha House.  Investigation revealed a fraternity member discharged a fire extinguisher.  The U.P. Fire Marshall will conduct the investigation.  Closed. 

051118  12:18 PM:  Theft (Less than $50):  A student reported someone stole her SMU ID card.  She left the card in a laundry room in Smith Hall.  Closed.

051119  1:17 PM:  Theft ($50-$499):  A student reported someone stole her cell phone.  The phone was left on a "party" bus and last seen in the 3000 block of Binkley Ave.  Closed.

051120  4:50 PM:  Misrepresentation of Age by Minor/Possession of Fictitious ID:  A student presented another person's counterfeit driver's license while attempting to obtain a wristband on The Boulevard. He was issued a court citation.  Closed

051121  5:12 PM:  Possession of Fictitious ID:  A student was questioned about the validity of the driver's license he was using to attempt to obtain a wristband during tail gating activities on The Boulevard.  He admitted it was counterfeit.  He was issued a court citation.  Closed

051122  6:09 PM:  Alcoholic Beverages in Dry Area:  Three unauthorized individuals were observed within the designated restricted area behind the service table of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity tailgating tent.  This violated the alcohol service agreement.  The bartenders were instructed to stop the service of beer.  The fraternity will be referred to the Dean of Student Life.  Judicial Referral.  (Note:  The Phi Gamma Delta fraternity was not involved in this incident.  A correction to this entry was made on 09/10/05.)

051123  8:30 PM:  Public Intoxication:  A student was arrested for Public Intoxication inside Ford Stadium.  The man was in possession of alcoholic beverages, shouted at game officials and was heard using loud profanity in a section where families and children were seated.  He was booked into the University Park Jail.  Closed

051124  8:31 PM:  Consumption of Alcohol by Minor:  A 19 year old student was caught drinking beer inside Ford Stadium. Judicial Referral.

051125  8:55 PM:  Consumption of Alcohol by Minor:  EMS responded to Moore Hall after a student was reported to be ill.  She admitted she had been drinking too much while on The Boulevard.  She did not require hospitalization.  Judicial Referral.

051126  9:51 PM:  Disorderly Conduct:  Two non-affiliated men were involved in an minor altercation.  One of the men reported his trumpet was damaged during the incident.  Open.

051127  9:55 PM:  Failure to Obey a University Officer:  Two students were ejected from Ford Stadium after they began shouting profanities toward the visiting team's bench.  Judicial Referral.

051128  4:50 PM:  Consumption of Alcohol by Minor:  A non-affiliated, 20 year old woman attempted to obtain a wristband at the ID check table on The Boulevard.  She had already been drinking and was issued a court citation.  Closed.

051129  4:10 PM:  Misrepresentation of Age by a Minor:  An 20 year old student presented a counterfeit driver's license at the ID check table on The Boulevard in an attempt to obtain a wristband.  She was issued a court citation.  Closed.

051134  7:30 PM:  Sick or Injured Person:  EMS responded to a medical call inside Ford Stadium.  A Baylor student was severely intoxicated and required medical transport.   Baylor Police were notified.

051135  7:40 PM:  Intrusion Alarm:  Officers responded to investigate an intrusion alarm at the SMU Bookstore.  A door had not been secured properly Closed.

051136  2:22 AM:  Driving Under the Influence by a Minor/Criminal Trespass Warning:  A non-affiliated woman was stopped in the 6000 block of Binkley Ave. for a traffic violation.  She had been consuming alcoholic beverages and is 18 years old.  She received a court citation and was issued a criminal trespass warning.  Closed.

051137  3:29 AM:  Driving Under the Influence by a Minor/Consumption Minor/Criminal Trespass Warning:  A vehicle was stopped in the 3200 block of Schiegel Street for a traffic violation.   The driver, a student, had been drinking and was issued a court citation for DUI Minor and Minor in Possession after the officer found a 40 oz bottle of beer behind the seat.  Two male passengers in the rear seats, also students, had been drinking.  One had a previous alcohol offense and was cited for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor.  The other will be referred to the Judicial Officer. A non-affiliated 17 year old female was cited for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor and issued a criminal trespass warning. Closed.

051138  11:30 PM:  Suspicious Person:  A student reported a suspicious man in the Moody Parking Garage.  The student said he was walking up to the second level carrying a hammer.  Officers searched the area, but did not locate the man.  Closed.

051139  11:36 PM:  Vehicle Accident:  A staff member was involved in a minor vehicle accident.  Closed.


September 6

051140  9:31 AM:  Fire Alarm: UPFD responded to a fire alarm at the Pi Kappa Alpha House.  Maintenance staff accidentally activated the system.  Closed.

051141  11:04 AM:  Medical Response:  EMS responded to a medical call inside Caruth Hall involving a student.  Closed.

051142   1:55 PM:  Criminal Mischief:  A student reported someone scratched the paint finish on his car while it was parked in the 3100 block of Binkley Ave.  Closed.

051143  2:04 PM:  Theft - MB ($50.00 - $499.00):  A faculty member reported her SMU issued credit card and a voice recorder were stolen from her office in Dallas Hall.  The theft occurred between 08/30/05 and 09/03/05.  Open.

051144  3:43 PM:  Failure to Leave ID:  A student reported someone damaged his parked truck inside the Airline Garage.  A witness made a statement and a suspect has been identified.  Closed.

051145  8:08 PM:  Criminal Trespass Warning:  A non-affiliated woman attempted to gain access to the stage at McFarlin Auditorium.  She was detained by the SMU PD dignitary protection officers.  The woman was interviewed, checked for a criminal history and warrants, photographed and escorted off campus.  The criminal trespass warning prohibits her from returning to the SMU campus for life.  Closed.


September 7

051146  12:06 AM:  Loud Noise Complaint:  Officers responded to a report of loud talking and shouting from the Daniel House residence.  The occupant was warned about the complaint.  Judicial Referral.

051147  12:40 AM:   Traffic-Reckless Driving:  A student was cited after she failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Bishop Blvd and Binkley Ave, accelerated and nearly struck a pedestrian who was crossing Bishop Blvd.  Judicial Referral.

051148  3:12 AM:   Criminal Trespass Warning:  Dallas Police pursued a drunk driver onto the campus and stopped him in the 2900 block of SMU Blvd.  SMU PD assisted the DPD officer during the traffic stop.  The driver was seated behind the steering wheel with his pants unzipped and open. A pair of binoculars were observed in the front seat.  He was found to have an outstanding warrant for Public Lewdness.  He was arrested for DWI, the warrant and was issued a criminal trespass warning by SMU PD.  Closed.

051149  3:18 AM:  Burglary of a Habitation-Night:  Officers responded to a sorority house in the 3100 block of Daniel Ave after the house mother reported one of the residents exited her room and confronted two unidentified men on the second floor.  The men left the house before police arrived.  However, they left evidence that helped police contact and decoy them.  The men returned to the residence where police were waiting secretly.  Both men were arrested and booked into the UP Jail.  Investigation revealed the men gained entry to the house through the unlocked front door.  Open.  A Campus Safety Advisory was issued and posted on September 7, 2005.

051155  12:14 PM:  Suspicious Person:  A student reported she was approached by an unknown white male as she was walking in the Commuter parking lot.  The man made obscene comments and then departed the area in a silver Ford Explorer.  The man was not in the area when police arrived.  Closed.

051156  12:25 PM: Theft - Class B ($50-$499):  A student reported someone stole her SMU parking decal off her car in the Airline Parking Garage.  Closed.

051157  2:32 PM: Theft - Class C (Less than $50):  A student reported someone stole her SMU Pony Card.  The card was in a storage space in the Cinco Center when it was taken.  Closed.

051158  7:09 PM:  Fire Alarm:  Officers and UP Fire Department responded to the Delta Delta Delta House to investigate a fire alarm.  A washing machine on the second floor was smoking due to a bad belt.  Closed.


September 8

051159  4:05 AM:  Consumption of Alcohol by Minor/Disorderly Conduct:  Officers responded to Perkins Hall on a loud noise complaint.  Officers made contact with the two students causing the noise.  One of the students had the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and is underage.  The student was issued a court citation for the violation.  Judicial Referral.

051160    5:57 AM:    Possession of Fictitious License or ID:    A student was stopped for a traffic violation in the 5900 block of SMU Boulevard.  The student presented a counterfeit ID to officers.  Judicial Referral.

051161    11:00 AM:    Emergency Evacuation Exercise:    Dallas Hall.  Closed.

051162    11:25 AM: Theft - Class C (Less than $50):  A staff member reported someone stole $20 in cash from a room in the Owens Arts Center.  Closed.

051163    2:52 PM:  Fire Alarm:  Officers and UP Fire Department responded to the Junkins Engineering Building to investigate a fire alarm.  No cause for the alarm could be determined.  Closed.

051164    4:43 PM:  Harassment:  A student reported he received harassing telephone calls from a known man.  Officers contacted the suspect and told him further calls would result in criminal charges.  The suspect agreed not to call the student again.  Closed.

051165    5:22 PM:  Vehicle Accident:  A student driving a university vehicle was involved in a minor vehicle accident in the Moody Parking Garage.

051166    5:30 PM:  Crime Prevention Program:  Lt. Jemmott conducted a self-defense class for members of the SMU Community.  Closed.

051167    7:04 PM:  Vehicle Accident:  A student ran into a vehicle while running in the South Quad Lot.  The driver of the vehicle was identified as a staff member.  Closed.

September 9

051168    12:11 AM:  Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor/Alcohol Policy Violation:  Five students were contacted in the alley of the 3000 block of SMU Boulevard.  Three of the students had the odor of alcohol on their breath and are underage.  One student was issued a court citation.  One student observed holding a cup containing an alcoholic beverage was 21 years old, but is in violation of university policy.  Judicial Referral.

051169  1:17 AM:  Consumption/Possession of Alcohol by Minor/Possession of Fictitious ID:  A group of underage students (8) were observed in a room in the Kappa Sigma House.  All had consumed alcoholic beverages and one of the students was in possession of a counterfeit ID.  Citations were issued and the Kappa Sigma House will be referred for a house violation.  Judicial Referral.

051170  2:19 AM:  Consumption of Alcohol by Minor:  An underage student was stopped in the South Quad parking lot for driving the wrong way in an alley.  The student admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages earlier in the evening.  Judicial Referral.

051171  3:25 AM:  Criminal Mischief:  Someone broke the gate arm on the south side of the Heroy parking lot.  Closed.

051172  8:54 AM:  Failure to Leave Identification:  A student reported her car was damaged while parked in the Airline parking garage.  A witness provided a description of the car which caused the damage.  Officers located and immobilized the car until the driver could be identified.  The driver was later identified as a student and admitted she caused the damage to the other student's car.  Judicial Referral.

051173  12:00 PM:  Fire Alarm:  Officers and UP Fire Department responded to the Chi Omega House to investigate a fire alarm.  Steam caused a smoke detector to activate on the second floor.  Closed.


September 10

051174  12:22 AM:  Fire Alarm:  Officers and UP Fire Department responded to investigate a fire alarm at the Kappa Sigma House.  A smoke detector in a room malfunctioned.  The detector will be checked by fire safety staff.  Closed.

051175  1:33 AM:  Consumption of Alcohol by Minor/Criminal Mischief:  A student in Perkins Hall caused damage to signs posted on the second floor of the facility.  The student had the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and is underage.  Judicial Referral.

051176  1:33 AM:  Driving Through Cones or Barricades:  A student drove through traffic cones that were blocking the 3000 block of Binkley Ave.  Judicial Referral.

051177  2:15 AM:  Criminal Trespass:  Officers observed three students in the Barr Pool.  The pool was closed at the time.  Judicial Referral.

051178  2:30 AM:  Criminal Mischief:  A student reported his car was damaged while parked in front of the Kappa Sigma House.  Open.

051179  2:50 AM:  Possession of Drug Paraphernalia:  A staff member detected the smell of burning marijuana on the second floor of McElvaney Hall.  Officers contacted five people (three non-affiliated and two students) in the room.  All admitted to smoking marijuana in the room.  Three non-affiliated people were issued criminal trespass warnings and escorted off campus.  Judicial Referral.

051180  3:03 AM:  Criminal Trespass Warning:  Four TCU band members were caught before they were able to pour grape Kool-aide in the Main Quad Fountain.  All were issued criminal trespass warnings and escorted off campus.  The TCU band director was notified.  Closed.

051200  12:05 AM:  Sick or Injured Person:  EMS responded to a medical call at Ford Stadium. Closed.

051201  2:17 AM:  Criminal Mischief:  Someone threw eggs on the front porch of the Pi Kappa Alpha House.  Closed.

051202  2:29 AM:  Public Intoxication/Disorderly Conduct:  An underage student was observed urinating in public near the intersection of SMU Blvd. and Dublin Street.  He ran from the officer before collapsing on the ground.  He was booked into the University Park jail.  Closed.

051203  2:45 AM:  Consumption of Alcohol by Minor/Possession of Fictitious ID:/Evading:  Two underage students were banging on windows outside of McElvaney Hall.  Officers captured both men after a short foot pursuit.  Each was issued a court citation.  Closed.

051204  2:28 AM:  Burglary of a Building/Suspicious Person:  Someone burglarized the McElvaney Hall front desk area and may have taken a  facility key.  Housing staff was contacted and conducted a search of the residence hall with officers.  The keys were returned by a student on 9-11-05, 4:30 pm by a student who locked herself out of her room.  Judicial Referral.

051205  3:33 AM:  Driving Under the Influence by a Minor/Consumption of Alcohol by Minor:  Two underage students were stopped by officers at Binkley Ave. and Airline Road.  Both had been consuming alcoholic beverages.  The driver was cited for Minor DUI Minor and the passenger for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor .  Judicial Referral.

051206  3:13 AM:  Consumption of Alcohol by Minor:  Five underage students in the Lambda Chi Alpha House were cited for consuming alcohol.  The fraternity will be referred for an alcohol violation.  Judicial Referral.

051207  5:52 PM:  Criminal Trespass Warning:  A staff member reported that a suspicious man was observed in McElvaney Hall.  Officers stopped the man at the intersection of Ownby Street and Binkley Ave.  The non-affiliated man said that he followed a woman into the building out of curiosity.  The man was issued a criminal trespass warning and left the campus.  Closed.

051208  2:51 AM:  Administrative Information Report:  A staff member from the Chi Omega House called to report a suspicious phone call.  Closed.

051209  12:48 PM:  Places Weapons Prohibited:  An illegal knife was found at Hawk Hall inside of a student's room.  Judicial Referral.

051210  11:37 PM:  Intrusion Alarm:  Officers responded to investigate an alarm at Bridwell Library.  A door in the basement was not properly secured.  The door was secured and the alarm panel reset.  Closed.

051211  12:52 PM:  Burglary of a Vehicle:  A student reported his car was burglarized while parked inside the Moody Garage.  Open

051222    1:41 PM:    Credit Card or Debit Card Abuse:  A student reported someone used her debit card to make unauthorized transactions at locations in Mexico.  Open.
