051332  12:22 AM:  Consumption of Alcohol by Minor/Alcohol Policy Violation/Passive Participation-Failure to Obey A University Officer:  Forty to fifty students were at the Kappa Alpha House engaged in an unauthorized party.  Most are underage and alcoholic beverages were present.  There was a group of students playing "Beer Pong" on the second floor.  The house is referred for violation of University Policy.  Forty three students are referred for alcohol violations.  Judicial Referral.

051333  1:37 AM:  Consumption of Alcohol by Minor:  An underage student was observed on a golf cart at Letterman Hall.  She had been consuming an alcoholic beverage.  Judicial Referral.

051334  2:29 AM:  Consumption of Alcohol by Minor:  An underage student was observed staggering in the 3000 block of Binkley Ave.  She had been consuming an alcoholic beverage.  Judicial Referral.

051343  12:54 AM:  Consumption of Alcohol by Minor:  An underage student was observed vomiting in the 3000 block of Binkley Ave.  An underage student was with her and both had been consuming alcoholic beverages.  Judicial Referral.

051344  2:01 AM:  Consumption of Alcohol by Minor:  Two underage students were observed arguing in the 6400 block of Airline Street.  They had been consuming alcoholic beverages.  They related that they were just having a disagreement.  One student was cited and the other referred.  Judicial Referral.

051345  2:06 AM:  Criminal Trespass Warning:   Two non-affiliated men were observed sitting a car in the South Quad parking lot.  The car did not have any lights on and was blocking both lanes of traffic.  Officers checked the men and determined they had no reason to be on campus.  They were issued criminal trespass warnings and escorted off campus.  Closed.

051346  2:26 AM:  Consumption of Alcohol by Minor/Criminal Trespass Warning:  A non-affiliated underage man was observed staggering in the 3000 block of Binkley Ave.  The man was with a student trying to get into a car.  The man had been consuming alcoholic beverages.  The man was cited and issued a criminal trespass warning.  Closed.

051347  2:45 AM:  University Policy/Code of Conduct Violation:  A student reported three females opened the fire exit door in Perkins Hall.  Officers checked the area, but did not locate the three suspects. The door alarm was reset.  Closed.

051348  3:16 AM:  Consumption of Alcohol by Minor/Disorderly Conduct:  An underage student was observed urinating outside of the Barr Pool.  He had been consuming alcoholic beverages.  Judicial Referral.

051349  4:21 AM:  Off Campus-Criminal Incident:  University Park Police Department reported they arrested a student for Public Intoxication.  The student was found passed out holding a bottle of scotch behind Jimmy John's restaurant on Hillcrest Blvd.  Judicial Referral.

051350  5:39 AM:  Public Intoxication/Sick or Injured:  Officers and UP EMS checked on a non-affiliated person at Mary Hay Hall.   Judicial Referral.

051352  10:40 PM:  Indecent Exposure:  A student reported an unknown man exposed himself to her in the South Quad parking lot.  Police searched the area, but did not locate the man.  The suspect is described as a white male, 30-39 years old, 5' 10" tall, 180 pounds.  Open.

051253  11:00 PM:  Theft Class B ($50-$499):   A student reported someone stole his wallet while at the Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports.  The wallet was taken from an unsecured area in the weight room.  This is the second theft from this area in a week.  SMU PD recommends that you lock all valuables in a locker.  There is a locker room available in the center.  Open.

051355  9:42 AM:  Criminal Attempt/Burglary:  A staff member reported someone attempted to break into an office in the Fincher Building.  Closed.

051356  4:04 PM:  Off-Campus-Criminal Incident (Harassment):  A student reported a fellow student is harassing her by phone and text messages at her off campus apartment.  Judicial Referral.

051357  5:46 PM:  Off-Campus Criminal Incident (Harassment):  A student reported she received a harassing letter at her home.  She believes the letter was sent by a fellow student.  Judicial Referral.

051358  6:38 PM:  Criminal Trespass Warning:  Three non-affiliated men were issued criminal trespass warnings.  The three men were skateboarding on the steps of the Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports.  Closed.

051359  9:49 PM:  University Policy/Code of Conduct Violation:  A staff member reported a student was in the Kappa Sigma House that had been told not to be in the house after 9:00 PM.  Judicial Referral.

051360  10:25 PM:  Sick or Injured Person:  Officers and UP EMS checked on a contractor in the Blanton Building.  Closed.


October 4

051361  4:29 AM:  Assist Other Agency:  Highland Park Department of Public Safety reported they arrested two students for Criminal Mischief/Evading Arrest/Consumption of Alcohol by Minor and Possession of Fictitious ID.  HP DPS were also looking for another student who had fled the scene. SMU PD officers located the student and turned him over to HP DPS.  He was booked into the HP jail.  Judicial Referral.

051362  3:42 PM:  Assault:  A student reported a fellow student physically assaulted her in a room at Cockrell Hall.  The student does not wish to file criminal charge.  Judicial Referral.

051363  5:41 PM:  Criminal Attempt/Burglary of Habitation:  A non-affiliated woman reported two men attempted to kick in the front door of her apartment in the University Gardens Apartment complex.  The two men did not get into the apartment.  They are described as: 1st suspect:  black male, 20-25 years old, 5' 11'' tall, heavy build; 2nd suspect:  black male, 20-25 years old, 5' 7" tall, slim build.  Open.

051365  1:10 AM:  Drug Policy Violation:  A staff member found drug contraband in a room in Perkins Hall.  Judicial Referral.

051366  9:15 AM:  Criminal Trespass Warning:  Officers stopped a non-affiliated man in the 2800 block of SMU Blvd. when he was observed in the contractor parking lot.  There have been numerous burglary of vehicles in this area.    The man did not have any official business on campus and was issued a criminal trespass warning.  Closed.

051367  9:29 AM:  Theft Class B ($50-$499):  A student reported she found her wallet outside her room in Perkins Hall.  Cash was missing from the wallet.  She does not know how the wallet got into the hallway.  Open. 

051368  2:47 PM:  Criminal Mischief:  A student reported someone damaged his car while parked in front of the Kappa Alpha House.  Closed.

051369  5:39 PM:  Theft Class C (Less than $50):  A student reported someone stole cash and credit cards from his wallet.  The wallet was in the Men's locker room at the Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports.  Open

051372  7:11 PM:  Theft Class B ($50-$499):  A student reported someone stole his iPOD in McElvaney Hall.  An hour later someone slid the iPOD under his room door.  Unfounded.

051373  8:23 PM:  Theft Class B ($50-$499):  A student reported someone stole items out of a locker in the Men's locker room at the Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports.  Open.

October 6

051375  2:06 AM:  Suspicious Person:  Two students in the Binkley Apartments reported they heard a noise outside of their apartment and saw a person through the peep hole in the door.  Officers searched the area, but did not locate anyone.  Closed.

051376  8:38  AM:  Administrative Information Report:  A staff member discovered five dead cats in the Binkley Apartment area.  Three of the cats were in varying levels of decay.  Two died recently.  The cause of death is unknown, but the circumstances are suspicious. Update:  Examination of the cats revealed they sustained fractured ribs and multiple puncture wounds indicating an animal killed them.  The examiner believes a coyote or a dog may be to blame.   Closed.

051377  4:24 PM:  Criminal Mischief:  A student reported someone damaged his car while parked in the 3000 block of Binkley Ave.  Closed.

051380  1:06 AM:  Assist Other Agency/Off-Campus Criminal Incident:  Officers assisted Highland Park Department of Public Safety in the 5800 block of Bishop Blvd.  HPDPS stopped two students for traffic violations.  One student was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and booked into the HP jail.  The other student was issued a citation for Possession of Fictitious ID.  Judicial Referral.

051381  2:37 AM:  Consumption of Alcohol by Minor/Criminal Trespass Warning:  Four underage University of Oklahoma students were cited for consumption of alcohol and issued criminal trespass warnings when they were observed entering the Moody Garage by lifting the gate arm.  They were observed entering the garage by the communications officer who was watching the Moody Garage CCTV.  Closed.

051382  3:14 PM:  Harassment:  A student reported someone left a vulgar letter on the windshield of her car in the Airline Garage.  No suspects.  Closed.

051383  3:43 PM:  Assault:  Two students reported another student assaulted them in Mary Hay Hall between 1:00 am and 2:00 am this morning.  Open/Judicial Referral.

051385  3:41 AM:  Public Intoxication/Consumption of Alcohol by Minor/Sick or Injured Person:  Three underage students were cited for alcohol violations when they contacted police for medical assistance for one of the students.  Judicial Referral.

051386  11:09 AM:  Criminal Trespass Warning:  A non-affiliated man was observed on the roof near the SMU Bookstore.  Officers located the man in the parking lot at Mrs. Baird's.  This area has been the target of recent thefts involving copper pipes.  The man was issued a criminal trespass warning and escorted off campus.  Closed.

051387  11:28 PM:  Criminal Mischief:  A staff member reported someone used a green marker to write on the front door of Peyton Hall.  Closed.


October 9

051388  2:12 AM:  Consumption of Alcohol by Minor/Criminal Mischief/Criminal Trespass Warning:  A student reported a disturbance in the Binkley Apartment area.  Two underage men (one student and one non-affiliated) had been consuming alcoholic beverages.  The non-affiliated man damaged a fence.  Both were cited. The non-affiliated man was issued a criminal trespass warning and escorted off campus.  Closed/Judicial Referral.

051389  4:13 AM:  Assist Other Agency:  UP Police requested assistance at a student's apartment on Hillcrest Ave.  UP Police received a noise complaint, but the students in the apartment would not come to the door when requested.  The students will be cited and referred.  Judicial Referral.

051390  4:49 AM:  Consumption of Alcohol by Minor:  An underage student was observed walking in the 3100 block of Binkley Ave.  The student attempted to hide from officers as they passed by his location.  The student had been consuming alcoholic beverages.  Judicial Referral.

051391  12:59 AM:  Possession of Alcohol by Minor:  During a residence hall check in Boaz Hall, officers discovered an eighteen pack of Keystone Light Beer in an unlocked room.  An underage student admitted the beer was his.  Judicial Referral.

051392  1:17 AM:  Consumption/Possession of Alcohol by Minor/Possession of Fictitious ID/Criminal Trespass Warning:   Nine underage students and one underage non-affiliated man were having a party in Boaz Hall.  All had been consuming alcoholic beverages.  The non-affiliated man was issued a criminal trespass warning.  All students will be referred.  Closed/Judicial Referral.

051394  11:50 AM:  Theft/Debit Card Abuse:  A student reported someone stole his wallet from the Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports on Oct 6, 2005.  Unauthorized charges have been made with his debit card.  The wallet was taken from his backpack which was left unsecured in the Men's locker room.  Open.

051395  4:46 PM:  Theft Class B ($50-$499):  A student reported someone stole her bike from a bike rack at Mary Hay Hall.  She reported the bike was secured to the bike rack with a chain and lock.  Open.


October 11

051396    9:59 AM:    Credit Card or Debit Card Abuse:  A student reported someone used his SMU Pony card number to make unauthorized purchases at two off-campus restaurants between 10/01/05 and 10/07/05.  Open.


October 12

051397    1:57 AM:    Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor:    Officers contacted a student in the 3100 block of Binkley Boulevard.  The student had the odor of alcoholic beverages on his breath and is underage.  The student was issued a court citation.  Closed.

051398  3:46 PM:  Criminal Trespass Warning:  Officers observed a non-affiliated man placing fliers on cars in the 5900 block of Bishop Blvd.  He was issued a criminal trespass warning and escorted off campus.  Closed.

051399  10:42 PM:  Theft Class A ($500-$1499):  A student reported someone stole his unattended cell phone in the Fondren Library.  Investigation revealed the cell phone was turned into the Library Lost and Found.  The property was recovered by the investigating officer, and the student was notified.  No offense occurred. Unfounded.


October 13

051400  1:46 AM:  Assist other Agency:  A student reported a disturbance at her off campus apartment involving another student.  Dallas Police were contacted and filled a report.  Judicial Referral.

051401  4:31 AM:  Consumption of Alcohol by Minor:  An underage student was issued a court citation in the 3000 block of SMU Blvd.  The student provided a portable breath test specimen to officers with a result of .09%.  Closed/Judicial Referral.

051402    11:08 AM:    Theft - Class B ($50-499):  A staff member reported someone stole a decal from the Park-n-Pony Office.  Open.

051403    12:25 PM:    Criminal Trespass Warnings:  Two non-affiliated men soliciting an Artwork Studio Spa in the Hughes-Trigg Student Center were issued criminal trespass warnings and instructed to leave campus.  Closed.

051404    4:47 PM:    Motor Vehicle Theft/Credit Card Abuse:  A student reported his vehicle was stolen from the 2900 block of the north Binkley Avenue Alley between 10/11/05 and 10/12/05.  The vehicle was recovered by Dallas Police Department on 10/12/05.  The stereo was stolen from the vehicle. The student's credit card was also used to make an unauthorized transaction.  Open.

051405    5:15 PM:    Crime Prevention Program:  Lt. Jemmott conducted a self-defense class for members of the SMU community.  Closed.

051406    8:28 PM:    Criminal Trespass Warnings:    Three students reported an unknown vehicle followed them from Dallas onto the SMU campus.  Officers stopped the vehicle in the 3100 block of Dyer Street and contacted the occupants.  Two non-affiliated men were identified and issued criminal trespass warnings.  Closed.

051407    11:02 PM:    Public Intoxication/Resisting Arrest/Assault/Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor/Criminal Trespass Warning:  Officers responded to the 3000 block of Binkley Avenue regarding a student causing problems for bus security.  The student was determined to be intoxicated.  The student resisted officers, but officers were able to gain control of the student and place him under arrest.  The student was transported to UP Jail and issued a court citation.  During book-in, the student grabbed and pulled the arm of one of the officers causing pain.  A non-affiliated man with the above student had the odor on his breath and is underage.  He was arrested, issued a court citation and transported to UP Jail.  He was also issued a criminal trespass warning.  Closed.

051408    11:26 PM:    Possession of Marijuana/Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia/Criminal Trespass Warning/Passive Participation-Drug Policy Violation:  Officers responded to a fire alarm at the Beta Theta Pi house.  Six students and two non-affiliated people in one of the rooms were smoking marijuana, which caused a smoke detector to activate.  Two glass smoking pipes were observed in the room.  One student was issued a court citation for the paraphernalia.  Another student was found in possession of marijuana, arrested and transported to UP Jail.  Four students will be referred to the Judicial Officer for Passive Participation-Drug Policy Violation.  The two non-affiliated people were issued criminal trespass warnings and instructed to leave campus.  Closed.

051409    11:31 PM:    Public Intoxication:  A student was arrested for Public Intoxication in Morrison Hall.  The student was transported to UP Jail and issued a court citation.  Closed.


October 14

051410    1:47 AM:    Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor:  Officers made contact with a student in the 3000 block of Binkley Avenue.  The student had the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and is underage.  The student was issued a court citation.  Closed.

051411    2:18 AM:    Driving Under the Influence by a Minor/Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor:  Officers stopped a vehicle in the 3100 block of Dyer Street for a traffic violation.  The driver of the vehicle, a student, had the odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath and is underage.  The driver was issued a court citation.  A passenger in the vehicle, a student, had the odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath and is underage.  The passenger will be referred to the Judicial Officer for the violation.  Closed.

051412    2:43 AM:    Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor:   Officers responded to the report of an unconscious woman in the northwest stairwell of the Moody Parking Garage.  Officers contacted the woman, a student, who had the odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath and is underage.  The student was issued a court citation.  Closed.

051413    2:49 AM:    Assault:  Four students were assaulted by two known students on the front lawn of the Beta Theta Pi house.  Open.

051414    2:55 AM:    Fire Alarm:    Officers and UPFD responded to a fire alarm at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon house.  A smoke detector activated on the second floor.  No cause for the activation could be determined.  Closed.

051415    6:42 AM:    Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor:    Officers responded to a suspicious man walking between vehicles in the West Quad Lot.  Officers made contact with the man and identified him as a student.  The student had the strong odor of alcoholic beverages on his breath and is underage.  Judicial Referral.

051416    7:52 AM:    Medical Call:    Officers responded to a medical call in the Binkley Apartments involving a student.  Closed.

051417    2:08 PM:    Criminal Mischief:    A student reported someone keyed her vehicle while parked in the 2800 block of Binkley Avenue.  Open.

051418    4:44 PM:    Theft - Class B ($50-499):    A student reported someone stole his wallet while in the Fondren Library.  The wallet was left on a desk unattended.  Open.

051419    10:25 PM:    Theft - Class C (Less than $50):    A student reported someone stole his sunglasses from a secured locker in the Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports.  The lock on the locker was broken in order to gain access.  Open.


October 15

051420   12:05 AM:    Theft - Class C (Less than $50):    A contract worker reported someone stole his sunglasses from an unsecured closet in the Loyd All Sport Center.  Open.

051421    3:38 AM:    Disorderly Conduct/Loud Noise Complaint:  Officers responded to the Hillcrest Manor Apartments regarding loud noise and fireworks complaints.  Officers contacted three students.  One of the students admitted responsibility for the fireworks.  All fireworks were confiscated.  Judicial Referral.

051422  1:52 PM:  Misrepresentation of Age by Minor:  An underage student presented a fictitious Texas drivers license attempting to obtain a "21" years and older wristband used to obtain alcoholic beverages in the Tailgating Area on Bishop Blvd.  She was issued a citation.  Judicial Referral.

051423  2:41 PM:  Criminal Mischief:  A student reported that someone had dumped trash into the yard at the Sigma Phi Epsilon house.  He suspects that someone from the Beta Theta Pi house may have committed the offense.  Judicial Referral.

051424  7:50 PM:  Criminal Mischief:   A staff member reported that someone damaged an exit sign in Smith Hall.  Closed.

051425  8:13 PM:  Public Intoxication:   A cab driver came to the Police Department to report that he had a student in his cab that had passed out.  Officers checked on the student and determined that he was intoxicated.  He was arrested and booked into the UP jail.  Judicial Referral.

051426  9:18 PM:  Theft Class A ($500-$1499):  A student reported that someone stole his PDA/cell phone.  The PDA was in an unsecured cubby hole in the Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports weight room.  Open.


October 16

051427  12:32 AM:  Causing a False Alarm:  Officers and UP Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the Lambda Chi House. A student reported that an non-affiliated man had opened a closet door causing a smoke detector to rip from the ceiling.  This action set off the fire alarm.  The man was last seen running from the house.  Open.

051428  1:30 AM:  Consumption of Alcohol by Minor/Sick or Injured:  An underage student was seen stumbling along a sidewalk in the 3000 block of SMU Blvd.  He had been consuming alcoholic beverages at Jack's Pub earlier in the evening.  He was later checked on by UP EMS.  Judicial Referral.

051429  2:49 AM:  Criminal Mischief:  A student reported that he suspected a fire in Boaz Hall when he observed smoke coming from a water fountain.  Further investigation revealed that someone had placed a bag of cement mix on top of the water fountain and the water was running.  The bag fell causing a cloud of dust to fill the area.  Open.

051430  3:41 PM:  Reckless Driving:  A staff member reported that he observed a student driving in a reckless manner in the 6100 block of Binkley Ave.  Judicial Referral.

051431  7:54 PM:  Welfare Check of Person:  A student called and reported that he was concerned for the safety of a student who lives in the Binkley Apartments.  Officers checked on the student and found that he was not in danger.  The caller that reported the incident was just "playing a joking" on his friend.  Judicial Referral.

051432  11:19 AM:  Fire Alarm:  Officers responded to the Alpha Chi Omega House to investigate a fire alarm.  The kitchen staff had set off the alarm while cooking grilled cheese sandwiches.  Closed.

051433  11:29 AM:  Harassment:  A student reported that an unknown male has been making unwanted calls to her cell phone and to her room phone in the SMU Service House.  Open.

051434  2:10 PM:  Criminal Trespass Warning:  A student reported that three persons were on campus soliciting.  Officers located the three non-affiliated people in the 3200 block of Dyer Street.  They were selling magazines for New Reader Service.  They were instructed that soliciting on campus is not allowed without prior approval.  All were issued Criminal Trespass Warnings and escorted off campus.  Closed.

051435  2:31 PM:  Criminal Mischief:  A staff member reported that someone had broke a window at the Kappa Sigma House.  Closed.

051436  11:23 PM:  Assault/Consumption of Alcohol by Minor:  A student reported that she was assaulted on September 3, 2005, in Virginia Hall between 2:00 AM and 4:00 AM.  An underage student that had been consuming alcoholic beverages is the suspect in this case.  Open/Judicial Referral.

051437  11:30 PM:  Assault/Consumption of Alcohol by Minor:  A student reported that she was assaulted on October 15, 2005, in Virginia Hall between 10:00 PM and 11:30 PM.  An underage student that had been consuming alcoholic beverages is the suspect in the case.  Open/Judicial Referral.

051438  10:43 AM:  Theft Class B ($50-$499):  A faculty member reported that someone stole a bottle of dimes from a file cabinet in an office in the Heroy Science Building.  Open.

051514  1:26 AM:  Consumption of Alcohol by Minor/Disorderly Conduct/Criminal Trespass Warning/Passive Participation:  An underage non-affiliated man was observed urinating behind a dumpster in the 6100 block of Ownby Street.  He had been consuming an alcoholic beverage in a student's room in Mary Hay Hall earlier in the evening.  He was cited and issued a criminal trespass warning.  The student who lives in Mary Hay Hall is referred for passive participation.  Closed/Judicial Referral.

051515  3:11 AM:  Possession of Marijuana/Drug Paraphernalia/Criminal Mischief:  Three students were observed running out of Boaz Hall.  As they ran through the parking lot, they placed a traffic cone on the hood of a car which activated the car's alarm.  Officers stopped the three students. During a frisk, officers discovered a small amount of marijuana and a pipe on one of the students.  The student was cited for the drug paraphernalia and will be referred to the Judicial Officer for Possession of Marijuana.  The other two students will be referred for criminal mischief.  Closed/Judicial Referral.

051521    8:23 AM:    University Policy Violation:   During a house inspection of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon house, a staff member found three white mice in a student's room.  Mice were also found in a 2nd floor mechanical room.  The mice, which are pet store variety, were not in a cage, but had been provided with food and water.  Judicial Referral.
